Incredible midi keyboard
blueveek, 12.10.2018
I was looking for something that can provide me with just a bit more range than my go-to 25 key midi controller. The result is I think I've found the perfect all around keyboard.

If you're not overly concerned with having grand master piano-like range, 76 and 88 keys would seem like overkill. And if you're also trying to save as much space as possible but still be able regularly to go beyond 2 octaves range, the 49 keys of this Alesis is the absolute sweet spot.

Beyond simple keys, you also get 8 programmable pads, 2 pitch and expression wheels, 4 knobs for your various macros, 2 pre-programmed octave-up and octave-down buttons, and a collection of 4 extra programmable midi buttons. Of course, it can be USB-powered as well.

The customisability is what you'd expect: perfect if you're not a one-man electro band. If you intend to control everything from one place (drums, synths, etc.), there's much better options out there with more pads, more knobs, more buttons. But if you're concerned with just playing keys, occasionally control one or two extra instruments or tracks, it's fantastic.

In summary, get this keyboard if you're trying to save space, want more than 2 octaves range but don't need a grand master piano, and still be able to control your DAW or a few other instruments or tracks via MIDI.

I have been looking for a lot of midi keyboards that comes with more than 6 pads. My final decision was to buy this Alesis V49. At the beginning, I was quite worried because this product seemed like it has several problems. The two main problems that I saw in others' review are: 1. Squeaky noise made from the keys; 2. Double triggering of the drum pads.
For me, Problem 1 did not happen for me until now, even though I have been using this product for about two months, but I actually faced the second problem on the 7th and the 8th pads. It only happens when I don't press them strongly enough, however, it it really annoying in the point that it makes the sensitivity function useless.

Apart from the well-known problems, this midi keyboard is good within this price range. The keys are full-sized and heavy (not smooth at all, but keep in mind that this keyboard with 8 pads is 98 euros, which is relatively cheap). If I have to recommend a mastering keyboard within a budget of 100euros, I would recommend this product.

Pros:
1. It does its job.
2. The blue light from pads and switches are relaxing and eye candying.

Cons:
1. Some pads have double triggering issues.
2. The keys are not really smooth.
