This mic has a very steady, airy and clean sound. Many people say it doesn't need EQ:ing at all, but it really depends on the singer, preamps, mixer, PA etc... I did have to tune the low ends just a little bit down and the upper ends just a little bit up.

The sound is very detailed, somewhat similar to a sensitive condenser microphone. All condensers I've tried have a remarkably bigger proximity effect than the M80. The M80 is very picky on the distance from the mouth - just a couple of centimeters too far and the sound starts fading quickly. It is basically a good thing, as I didn't get any feedback even if I tried putting it relatively close to the PA.

Generally the feeling is very nice. The matt black surface is not slippery at all and the weight is just perfect. It comes with a pouch that is a surprisingly snug fit - a positive thing in my opinion. It also looks good.

I bought this to replace my Sennheiser E845S. Of course it is a totally differently priced mic, but I have to say I really don't regret.

Couldn't be more pleased

I Thought about using this mic mainly for recording various instruments, and for live vocals. After reading great deal of reviews about several microphones, including the M80, around the internet I decided to pull the trigger on the M80. I'll have to admit that this Microphone didn't disappoint!

The build quality is solid and the microphone is comfortable to hold, it's also fairly heavy compared to some other handheld microphones. The chrome grill also adds certain amount of bling, which from a show perspective, is not a bad thing.

It sounds really great on male/female vocals, it's detailed and has an airy quality in the top end. The microphones proximity effect is on the less pronounced side, which is either a good or a bad thing, depending on the application. The midrange is nice, contrary to some other more midrange heavy microphones, and it really doesn't need that much EQ. What I also love about this mic is how it performs on snare and guitar amps, the detailed sound is awesome!

This is truly a versatile microphone, and I'll recommend it when asked. All in all, it's fair to say that overall build- and sound quality of the M80 gives off a certain amount of confidence on it's durability and performance.

used this on my main vocalist, and with a flat tuned system it fits his voice in the system without any EQ. perfect for german singers
