You need to takes a pair of this to work specifically (FX4 and MX4), I thought you only need one to split a signal but you need those two to work.

The box is built enough and will work with audio too.
Great product.

Phantom Power Works with a shielded cable on these boxes - YES!!!

Very good product for audio use. Two boxes joined with cat5e (shielded) provides the perfect slimline snake which provides phantom power to all four mics. Highly recommend them - compact, solid, well built and well priced.

Its great little gadget, it works almost ani UTP cable, I prefer FTP so you can connect the eart too and its will be shielded. (Can use for audio too, thats why i bought it)

Die Stairville RJ45 DMX Split Box FX4 macht natürlich nur mit ihrem Bruder MX4 Sinn.
Zusammen sind sie ein ziemlich geniales Tool, um 4 Signale über ein einziges CAT-Kabel von A nach B zu transportieren.
AES/EBU funktioniert klasse (Dave Rat hat zur möglichen Reichweite ein gutes Video auf Youtube), DMX auch.
Bei Audio ist zu beachten, dass viele CAT-Kabel den Schirm nur auf einer Seite aufgelegt haben, d.h. es wird dann keine Phantomspeisung übertragen. Ansonsten funktioniert das auch klasse.
Bei Intercom (Clearcom-Standard) ist das Problem mit der Masse das gleiche, ich löse das mittlerweile oft mit Adaptern und einer zweiten Basisstation.

Alles in allem sind die Boxen ein echt geniales Tool, wenn man in einem Gebäude "mal schnell" etwas Ton über eine bestehende CAT-Infrastruktur schicken will, oder im Live-Betrieb einfach noch ein CAT zwischen Bühne und FoH als Spare legt, das man dann für alles mögliche nutzen kann.

Zwei Sachen würde ich mir wünschen - eine zweite CAT-Buchse wäre klasse, um die Boxen kaskadieren zu können (z.B. um schnell einen passiven Split zu basteln, oder um an einem Ende der Leitung sowhl männliche als auch weibliche Buchsen zu haben).
Und einen Schalter, um eine XLR-Buchse zu deaktivieren und die dadurch frei gewordenen Adern auf den Schirm zu brücken (damit potentialgebundene Signale wie Phantomspeisung oder Intercom ohne Probleme funktionieren).
