Trepidation turned to exaltation

I have been playing bass for almost 30 years and in all that time I've never bought myself a quality bass. I made do with £300-550 guitars and while they were perfectly satisfactory instruments, there was no real "WOW" factor. That changed when I had a few hours to spend in a large music chain store with a vast array of basses for all budgets. And I tried them all. Some of the really big names disappointed including an £1800 Lakland that almost sliced my fingers with badly finished frets along the bottom edge of the neck. Then I tried the Sandberg. The bass I tried was nothing short of exemplary. The action, the weight and balance and the tones available from the Delano pickups was incredible. My mind was made up, all I had to do was find a finish I liked (the shop one was plain black with maple neck) and the best deal for my money. I found the Blueburst here on Thomann for £350 less than I could find anywhere else and it was a simple no brainer. It played beautifully out of the box and the finish is stunning. I love it.

Gisteren binnen gekregen en het was geweldig om de bas uit te pakken. Toen ik uiteindelijk de bas uit de hoes haalde was ik erg onder de indruk van de looks van de bas. De afwerking is naadloos. De manier waarop de nek in de neckpocket is gezet is gewoon ronduit strak. Daar komt geen stofje tussen. De blueburst lak is supermooi aangebracht. De houttekening komt er prachtig doorheen (hier en daar een noest) en omdat het maar een dunne laag is worden naar mijn idee de trillingen van de snaren perfect overgebracht van nek naar body.

Het geluid van de bas is ook geweldig te noemen. De humbucker bij de brug is te schakelen naar single coil (pakt de coil het dichts naar de nek toe) waardoor hij ook kan klinken als een jazz bas. De knoppen voelen stevig aan en ze hebben een klik in de middenstand. De bas is actief maar kan ook passief worden geschakeld. Superhandig.

De hardware ziet er ook strak uit en werkt goed. Stemmechanieken zijn aan te passen d.m.v. bijgeleverde inbussleutels. Zo ook de brug. Deze is zo gemaakt dat je de snaren niet eerst door een gaatje hoeft te halen. Kortom een geweldige aankoop met goeie service van de mensen van Thomann.

Un gran bajo

Músico aficionado, después de años tocando en casa y con amigos con un bajo de estudiante, decidí comprar el Sandberg por recomendaciones de amigos y porque el bajo en las imágenes de la web me encantó.
Estéticamente es un bajo precioso, mas bonito de lo que las fotos dejaban ver, llama la atención lo ligero y cómodo que es, tiene un mástil fino y un tacto muy agradable a la hora de tocar.
Muy polivalente, adaptado a todos los estilos, te permite infinidad de regulaciones y tiene un regusto a sonido metálico precioso.
Creo que es una gran compra, un bajo que por calidad se sitúa a la par de bajos de bastante mas dinero.
