Swap the heads and it sounds great!

Only downside is that the tuning screws are made out of bad quality material so the threads will wear out and break very quickly. Couple of my tuning screws snapped in the lugs after just about a month of use. Change those out to some better quality ones and you'll have a cheap piccolo that sounds great!

Ostin tämän aivan mielenkiinnon vuoksi ja suureksi yllätykseksi huomasin, että tämähän on aivan mainio rumpu. Työn jäljessä ei ole mitään moitittavaa ja soundi on mielestäni hyvä, mutta sehän makuasia. Hintaansa nähden erinomainen.

Wow sound from a budget snare

This piccolo snare is incredible value for money.
I was surprised at the quality of the fittings and even the skins when I took it out of the box.

It feels robust and has a reassuring weight (unless you like your snare as light as a feather, then you won't be quite as happy).

The online sound is very good and reflects the actual acoustic sound of this drum. Well Done Thomann!

The snare tightens/slackens to a very satisfactory level for me delivering either a "sloppy slap" of a snare sound, or a "tight crack" cutting through everything else on stage. This is my first piccolo snare and I was a little anxious as to whether I would really like it, but when comparing it to my 5" depth snare, it is not hugely different in overall pitch/tone - I guess it comes down to the general tuning to some extent.

I will change the top skin for an Evans to gain some tone but for an out-of-the-box batter head I was fairly pleased.

I am genuinely happy with this snare and happily recommend to anyone considering adding a piccolo to their set-up.
