Good, and not just "for the price"
Ingoba 17.07.2023
Let me preface this by saying that to me it always sounds bad, when I hear instrument reviews for 700 euro instruments go "It's surpisingly good for such a cheap instrument". When I spend that amount of money for a single item, I expect it to be quite nice and well suited for what it is.

That being said, the instrument completely met my expectations.

A cool little thing that Thomann product page doesn't mention is that this lefty version, too, has a split coil pickup on the bridge. It activates by pushing the tone knob.

Out of the box, the strings seemed to be of good quality, and basic setup was actually really sensible. The amount of relief on the neck was almost perfect once I had tuned the strings back up, and the guitar was very playable, without any big downfalls. One slight problem was the strings biding on the new nut, but the fix for that took without exaggeration 2 minutes. I loosened the strings, took an old string set and swiped the nut slots with their respective wound string sizes. Then I applied some graphite (aka. a pen mark) on the slots and plopped the strings back in. With this done, the guitar held its tune remarkably well after wailing on the vibrato arm. The fret work seems to be really well done, although some very slight roughness was still left on the frets. A couple of hours of playing took that out though.

The finish was good. It feels like a quality item. There was a tiny spot where some residue (masking tape from manufacture) was left, but that came away with a swipe of a finger. The neck is nicely slightly satin on the back. The look is a really nice touch of personality in the field of honestly pretty bland selection of left-handed instruments overall.

Weight is reasonable and seems to be well balanced to my tastes.

Overall, I can recommend well for

Simply outstanding

Let me preface this by saying that I once owned an American standard strat which cost twice as much to buy. This guitar outperforms it on all fronts. Straight out of the box the guitar is playable. I may lower the action at a later date but for now it's absolutely fine. Flawless finish, great spec (bone nut, locking tuners, decent pickups, push/pull coil split on the bridge and a superb flamed blue finish). The rolled edged neck is sublime, feels played in already. Bit of adjustment needed with the nut (10s are a bit tight) but I normally use 9s so this will be resolved once I change strings. Put simply, it plays and sounds like a high end strat. If I still had my American strat I am certain that I would choose this over it. Its insanely priced and incredible value. In short if you want a £1-1.5k strat but can't afford it, buy this. It's in the same league. Fender, if you are aware of this guitar, you must be worried, and rightly so.
