Got this today and can't stop playing with it!
It's incredibly small and compact but doesn't mean it compromises durabilty, playability nor quality of sound!
3 in 1 : Wah, Volume and Expression! What else could you ask for?
I have a small pedalboard which can only fit so many pedals, and need to use all 3 of those functions. This pedal gave me exactly what I needed to complete my pedalboard without taking up too much space!
The wah seems to be a based on the Crybaby Wah pedal but If I have to compare it to the Crybaby I had a while ago, this one definitely beats it.
Seems really durable!
Completely satisfied with the purchase. One of the best buys I've had in a long time!
Thanks Thomann for a great service as always!! Looking forward to my next buy!
It also works as a volume or expression pedal (modes are changed with the very small three-way switch on the side). It works as an expression pedal with my EHX Pitchfork (with a stereo patch cable), so it will probably work with other EHX pedals.
Overall great value wah pedal with some nice extra features.
Wah and Volume pedals are well known for their dimensions and their difficult integration with full pedalboards; this HoTone little gem facilitates its integration due to a cleaver design. The materials are rock solid and the feeling with the pedal is good. After a quick period of learning, even the player used to have a regular sized pedal under his feet can easily pull great sounds out of this effect.
Thus, what appears to be a con at a first glance, quickly becomes an opportunity and you can leave the wah in place in your permanent setup in your living room.
What has been the most appealing feature for me is the possibility to select different roles of this pedal: besides the wah effect, with the actuation of a linear side switch, one can set the pedal to be an effective volume unit, also selecting the volume range by means of a potentiometer, or use it as an expression pedal in association with a stereo cable. I do not used the Soul Press as an expression pedal yet but the volume function is smooth and very effective.
I never considered buying a wah pedal before because it doesn't meet my musical style but this product is usable even when not used as a wah: volume is far more useful to me!
At the end, my overall opinion of this swiss knife pedal, mainly considering the quality of its frequency sweep range as a Wah and taking into account the price, is that it is worth having one unit of this in your pedalboard!
I love the pedal, is small but doing so many things! Volume, expression and wah pedal! It is a wow pedal! The design is really good and nice, a sturdy pedal, a tank. Still the usage is so nice ad easy, just a switch to change the purpose of it. The fact it needs a power plug does not bother me. The wah tone is nice and sounds good for me, even for bass playing.
- sturdy metal case
- usage for guitar and bass
- good looking pedal
- needs a power plug
It works very well. Nice wah-sound out of the box. The volume feature is something I've always wanted and is clean and sophisticated. Setting the minimum level is cool. The slow volume swell with my delay is lovely (nothing new here), the rapid attack and decay possible with this pedal is very creative, bringing the guitar into the realms of powerful techno stabs. The design choice of a side mode switch for wah/swell/volume is versatile but I never have anything to swell :) so I would prefer a wah on/ wah off =volume pedal on, no switching required. This is not even a complaint, this is a lovely pedal...
Good overall sound.
