Fred Kelly Picks Freedom Finger Pick Pack P L

I bought these to try out playing finger-style without nails, since my nails are not always in the best condition, or in case I need them short for some other activity/sport. They mostly do the job but for anyone just wishing to try these out, here's my experience:

- They kinda made my fingers feel fatter. I have to pay extra attention to keep my plucking fingers apart, so they don't impede each others' movements. So my hand doesn't really feel relaxed with these on.

- When the picks touch already ringing strings, they make unpleasant twangy ringing sounds before the pluck starts (audible in the demo video on the YouTube channel of Fred Kelly Picks). I have to take care to start the pluck from the flesh of my finger to mute the string shortly before the pluck to prevent this, which is a bit more difficult with the picks but happen naturally while using nails.

- I bought "L" size, which fits my middle and ring fingers fine, but is a bit large for my index finger, wish they were sold separately so I could mix and match different sizes. The demo video suggests it might be possible to adjust with hot water, but haven't tried it.

Onglets qui permettent d'avoir la partie en contact avec la corde au dessus de son ongle "à descendre", et non au dessous de la pulpe du doigt "à remonter". Cette position me paraît plus intuitive, mais les produits que j'avais précédemment essayé n'étaient pas réellement satisfaisants, ou nécessitaient de garder des ongles longs pour les maintenir. Les Freedom Picks tiennent bien et ont un bon son, ceux en polycarbonate étant plus clairs, moins ronds que ceux en Delrin, un peu trop étouffés à mon goût, mais sonnant néanmoins bien. Le jeu devient vite aisé, un peu comme avec la pulpe des doigts, avec un son plus clair, plus d'attaque. Le seul inconvénient mineur est de s'habituer à la partie entourant le doigt, pour éviter les contacts involontaires avec la corde. Sinon, les meilleurs onglets que j'ai trouvés, après de nombreux essais. Je les utilise pour la Pedal Steel, mais ils sont très bien pour le banjo, et même la guitare électrique, le son et les sensations sont bons. J'ai eu la chance que la taille du grand modèle me convienne directement (je suis très grand, mais ai des doigts assez fins), et je n'ai donc pas expérimenté les différentes manières de les déformer en les resserrant ou desserrant en chauffant et refroidissant. En tout cas, pour moi, ils sont excellents, et représentent un vrai progrès par rapport aux autres produits essayés, je n'utilisais plus que les doigts, et ne joue maintenant de la pedal steel qu'avec eux!

Als Kind habe ich klassische Gitarre gelernt und bin irgendwann auf Stahlsaiten umgestiegen. Neben Strumming und Flatpicking-Ausflügen ist aber in erster Linie Fingerstyle mein Ding. Und dafür braucht es nun mal einzelne Finger. Ich habe den Anschlag mit Nägeln wegen der eindeutigen Intonation und des helleren Klangs immer den Fingerkuppen vorgezogen. Bis die Nägel einrissen oder brachen. Mich kannten diverse Nagelstudios als einzigen männlichen Besucher, bis ich mir selber Kleber, UV-Lampe und den ganzen Kram zugelegt habe. Aber auch das hält nur begrenzt und wenn von dem künstlichen Nagel etwas abreißt, ist das Ergebnis noch schlechter als zuvor (weil der Kleber auch die Obrschicht des Nagels mit wegfetzt). Aber die Freedom Finger Picks sind endlich die Lösung, für mich zumindest, weil sie den Nagel da hin tun, wo er auch natürlicherweise hingehört und nicht "anders herum" (für mich ist "anders herum" jedenfalls unten).
Ein bisschen angepasst habe ich die Dinger allerdings trotzdem: Mir ist der Übergang vom "Nagel" zum Finger noch nicht natürlich genug, das fühlt sich einfach ein bisschen falsch und dick an. Ich habe mit dem Dremel den "Nagel" etwas schmaler geschliffen, die Rundung eckiger und etws nach hinten verlegt, so dass ich jetzt auch den richtigen Kontaktpunkt zwischen "Nagel" und Fingerkuppe habe. So ist es für mich perfekt! Jetzt muss ich nur daran denken, immer mein Säckchen mit den Picks (und einem Bumblebee für den Daumen) dabeizuhaben und ich bin jederzeit spielfähig!
