Fender Vintera 60s Mustang Bass SFG

I needed this bass for the vintagy stuff i usually play.

Pros:
> The Looks. (it's a bit personal but i think it's important to mention)
> The Finish. I didn't find signs of imperfections.
> The sound. Is what you are looking for in a short scale.
> The Feel. This bass feels great. The neck expecially.
> The fretwork. It was my deepest fear but fortunately is great.They have done a really got job at the factory. I was really impressed . No high or sharp frets and the crowning is top notch.
> The neck. Straight as a arrow and the shape is really confortable. Not to big or to small.

Now the really bad stuff.
CONS:
> The electronics. The volume pot did nothing. After inspection i realzied that the wiring was all wrong. Even the ground wire of the output jack was missing (it's not really necessary because the pots are grounded throught the metal plate but BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY). I rewired it with the standard PBass configuration. Somebody at the factory screw it up badly . THIS BASS SHOULDN'T HAVE LEFT QC in MEXICO. THIS BASS SHOULDN'T HAVE LEFT QC AT THOMANN. I think it's unacceptable on a 900€ instrument
> The bridge (FIXED read below). Is installed slightly in the wrong place. The G string is closer to the edge of the freatboard than the E string. Easy fix. I moved the bridge saddles left (1-2mm). The main problem is that the bridge plate has grooves. Now the saddles are out of the grooves.
> The tuners. They are just ok. I expected more from Hipshot tuners. The plates are cut really sharp and sometimes they rattle a bit. BUT they are really precise.

I think it's a good instrument. If you know how to fix it.
If is you first bass (lucky you) don't buy it online.
The quality control was really bad.

The guys at thomann are really great and helpful and I'm really happy with my new bass.

POSTSCRIPT:
The customer care at Thomann is really great. I contacted them about the problem with the bridge and in less than 6 months (during the COVID pandemic) they provided me with the replacement bridge with the correct saddles. Now the string alignment is perfect.
The problem is known and and already adressed by Fender (they mixed up the production for the different mustangs in they're line). Hopefully by now (2022) they fixed it in all the production.

à ce prix, je ne m'attendais pas à recevoir la basse dans une housse faite pour une Fender long scale et avec un problème de câblage.

Points négatifs :
- à la réception de la basse, le bouton de volume ne sert à rien et le bouton de tonalité agit sur le volume... après ouverture de la plaque de contrôle, il apparaît que le micro n'est pas soudé sur le bon potentiomètre : c'est inacceptable que cette basse à 900€ soit passée à travers des contrôle de qualité
- housse inadaptée à la basse
- la touche était desséchée
- le trussrod était complètement desséré

Points positifs :
- très bonne lutherie (qualité des bois, ajustement, mécaniques, chevalet, finition deu sillet et des frettes)
- très belle finition (plaque, vernis, couleur, peinture...)
- très bon micro
- plusieurs sons excellents (ça ressemble à une bonne Precision Bass avec des medium plus ronflants), possibilité de jouer en cordes à filets plats qui ont de la tension (d'Addario Chromes, éviter les Thomastik qui sont beaucoup trop molles sur cette basse) ou en filets ronds. Gros son au médiator en palm mute avec la tonalité à moitié.
A savoir :
- contrairement à la fiche Thomann, le manche fait 1,625 pouce (41mm) au sillet, ce qui correspond à la taille de la Mustang originale (1966)
- les frettes sont fines comme sur l'originale de 66
- la touche en Pao Ferro est coupée slab, pas comme l'originale (Rosewood coupé veneer)
- une fois montée en cordes à filets plats on est très proche du son du modèle Justin Meldhal Johnsen!
- jouée en live en pop, rock et rock'n'roll, elle déchire le mix et elle a un super look!
