Dunlop Capo/Slide Convertor

This is a variant of the Dunlop Elastic Capo, much-loved of folk guitarists.

An extended bar slides under the strings, and sits over the length of a fret, raise the action to a better height for bottleneck playing. An adapter raises the action still further, to near squareneck height, for lap-steel playing. This alters the physical length of the strings, so you WILL have to retune. You won’t be quickly changing keys between songs with this capo. In practice, it will convert your regular guitar into a slide guitar for the duration of the gig.

It works as a normal flat capo; BUT be aware that if used on a curved fingerboard, the first and sixth strings will buzz.

A useful accessory if you are doing any amount of slide playing, or want to experiment with lap-steel styles. Otherwise it’s a bit of a gimmick.

Easy to use - Dobro style playing on acoustic guitar.

Works well, solid construction, no buzzing. Its one way of achieving a new raised tuning and creating a hight of string that can be pressed down hard to create an acoustic load and sustained tone. I

t depends on what sort of slide playing and sound you are after. Its worth getting this capo to add to your collection, definitely its good to be able to create different types of slide playing sounds. This one I use to quickly change one of my acoustic guitars to slide, I have one guitar that has been modified to be permanently for slide with a very high string setup.

Very practical and easy to use

Something that I wish I had before. I don't use it often but it's good to have to adapt any guitar to slide with any base note.

A light metal part (my guess is zinc) is shaped so that you can literally slide it on any fret of the board. When the second piece is mounted, it pushes up your strings and raises them about 1cm, which is great for buzz-free slide freedom.

The lack of a good solid nut is felt though as it doesn't give you a deep heavy sound.
The only other cons I can think of is that the whole piece feels a little weak in the hand, and that when in place, the strings height is changing as you go up the neck.

But altogether a very handy little fun and creative tool to keep in your guitar case.
