I spent a great deal of time looking for a versatile fuzz pedal for my rhodes piano. I got frustrated since potential options mostly only did one thing well and were unnecessarily pricey, being in the boutique pedal price range.
The versatility of this unit is insane. The two modes along with the bias control and filter allows you to pull a plethora of tones out of this box. The customizability is very well thought out. From chunky, heavy distortion to broken, raw sounding textures. I wasn't left longing for anything.
In terms of its sound capability and versatility, they really could charge x2 or x3 the price which makes it a bargain.
The design is slightly odd, I don't quite understand the unusual shape of the upper and lower ends of the housing. The artwork and colour isn't particularly to my liking, but it's not horrible. It has a badass name and the great bonus is that you get to say "This is Carcosa" every time you see it, which is amazing if you've watched True Detective Season 1.
The build quality (materials and assembly) is ok, but not nearly as solid and firm as with boutique pedals twice of thrice the price. In my opinion this is the only place where the price shows. The layout is functional and pleasant to work with, and the big knobs are a huge plus (everyone loves big knobs).
All in all, don't let the price fool you, this is a great sounding fuzz with insane versatility and power.
