Beautiful guitar
Frednugent 13.07.2021
This guitar is beautiful. It has a balanced and almost sweet sound to it. Deep lows and balanced highs. The feel out of the box is good and there is room for a little lowering of the action if needed in the future.
I should say when the guitar arrived the battery pack was hanging loose. The velcro that attaches to the bettery pack had come off the inside of the guitar body. Hmmmm, ok no problem just put it where it should be. Then I notice the jack for the pickup cuts in and out when I plug it into an amp. Hmmm, ok bad jack? Not a big expense. I could get that replaced....Hmmmm.
It's such an expensive guitar to have those little errors right out of the box :(
Look over the body...it's beautiful, but then notice cheap plastic pins. Gibson, you guys are nuts. This guitar is right near 4000 euros and there are cheap plastic pins. Crazy.
So, bad pickup and plastic pins.
But the sound is amazing and so "balanced". I keep using that word because it is so apparent when I strum a chord. It really does sound wonderful. Im still not sure if I should return this guitar. For the money it should not have the above mentioned problems, but the SOUND.
I will update and let you know if I keep it, change the pins, and get the pickup fixed, or return it.

UPDATE: I decided to keep this guitar. The sound is so good it's impossible to let go. I recorded it to test, and it sounds amazing. My friend who collects vintage high end guitars played it and said it sounds and feels fantastic. He mentioned the beautiful low end and the balance. He said is sounded better than his favorite vintage J45. That was the moment I was really sure. Ha.
Thomann very kindly agreed to work with my Luthier on the jack repair. Very nice service by Thomann.
It was a hard decision buying an expensive guitar without playing it first, but it all worked out with Thomann. They proved once again to be straight, honest, and their customer service was helpful and kind.
This guitar looks fantasic and sounds amazing. I am happy.
