Tienes para sacar sonido desde pop, pasando por polyphia e incluso llegando a un High Gain brutal para tocar temas más tralleros.
De volumen y distor vas sobradisimo. Si lo quieres para tocar en casa y tienes vecinos, suerte.
Tiene control de volumen y gain independientes para los 3 canales y eso lo hace muchisimo más versátil.
Por ponerle un ''pero'', el canal clean y overdrive comparten EQ. Pero tampoco es un problema.

Playing for 35 years, I play thrash, speed and power metal. Recorded three albums, tried a lot of equipment, so I know what I am talking about. This is a good amp on its own, BUT with the band you will have a hard time cutting through. It lacks high mids. It has V shaped EQ. IF you buy EVH speakers and EVH pick-ups than you will have great Van Halen sound. Nothing else. This amp has a lot of presence and highs, so you can not use pick-ups with same characteristics, for example FORGET about EMG 81 !!! You will need darker pickups to tame the amp. Also very picky about speakers, if you do not want to dish out money for Celestion made EVH Greenbacks, you have to buy ordinary Celestion Greenbacks: G12H and / or G12M. As I already sad, this is ONE SOUND amp, dialing the pots will NOT change the amp character. First channel clean, second channel so called brown sound, in this case very dry, synthetic lacking mid highs, third channel better but hard to use due to too much distortion and feedback, you can not dial gain more then 3.
Effects loop is foot-switchable but there is a noticeable pause when turning "ON and "OFF" if you have longer cables from and to the loop. It can be solved, just leave the loop "ON' all the time. Or keep you pedals always "ON" on top of the amp with short patch cables. With the so expensive amp they should have solved that better. I do believe that it is overpriced a bit.. I am not shore about quality as I have it for a few days only, will give it 5 stars but I will update later if I get disappointed.
And THOMANN has a MISTAKE on the site, the weight of this amp is not 11,4 kg. it is 15,9 kg.

Conclusion: In order to use this amp I had to change pick-ups on my guitars, speakers, and still not 100 percent happy because I do not have enough mid highs and have hard time cutting through the band. Sound is still a bit harsh. If I knew all this I would not have bought it. If you do not mind building your equipment form ground up or you just lucky to have right stuff, and don't care about mids, than buy it.

I'm using my 5150 50w for live purposes and so far it has been great. Way easier to move it than a 100w, it has the 5150 high gain distortion and a very good fenderish clean, that makes it very versatile. I also like the upgraded knobs system that makes both 1st and 2nd channels usable without having to move the knobs because of the volume difference between the two channels. Something I would have liked is if they used concentric knobs for frequencies of channel 1 and 2 and power and stand by levers on the front panel (even tho the space is what it is and maybe it's not enough).
I higly recommend it.

Vor Jahren habe ich Version 1 des Amps mal angetestet.
Schon damals war der aggressive Sound sehr auffällig.
Nach langem Überlegen habe ich dann aber den Engl Fireball 100 genommen.
Der Engl steht nun bei mir im Proberaum und der EVH 50W ist zu meinem Live-Amp geworden.
Eddie und Co. haben den Amp gut "neu" entworfen.

Zuerst:
Die Dual Concentric Potis arbeiten sehr gut. Fühlen sich jedoch nicht so wertig und fest an.
Kanäle, Fx Loop lassen sich angenehm mit dem tollen Footswitch schalten. Beim Ein- und Ausschalten des Loops entsteht aber leider ein leichtes Nebengeräusch.
Da ich aber hier ständig den Mooer Noise Killer betreibe, und auch vor dem Amp ein Noise Gate, geht das bei mir i.O.
Die Standby und Power-Switche wären, v.A. live, besser an der Vorderseite aufgehoben.
Midi an Board des EVH ist auch ein absolutes Highlight. Sehr schön dass dies eingebaut wurde.

Der Sound
ist allgemein sehr trocken und on top ziemlich brizzelig. Speaker spielen hierbei immer eine große Rolle. Mit Celestion V30er bisher nicht die tollsten Ergebnisse erzielt. Mein Fireball war hier deutlich neutraler.
Kanal 3 hat pures Solo-Feeling und wird bei mir live hierfür mit eingestelltem Lautstärkesprung verwendet. Gain auf 9Uhr, sonst gibts Feedbacks wenn man mehr reindreht.
Sehr gut ist hierbei Resonance und Presence. In Verbindung mit dem Bass-Regler kann aber auch Matsch entstehen.
Und mit Presence sollte man es auch nicht übertreiben um den Amp nicht noch mehr brizzeliger zu machen.
Der EQ reagiert sehr gut, die Mitten in Kanal 2 könnten für meinen Geschmack sogar noch ein klein wenig mehr da sein.
Für Rhytmus ist Kanal 2 einfach genial auch in Verbindung mit einem Tubescreamer (in meinem Fall der TS Mini, da dieser nicht noch mehr Fizz dazugibt).
Ohne wäre mir der Sound für Metal noch zu ungesättigt.
Wenn man dann in Kanal 1 schaltet muss man allerdings bedenken dass man hierbei nicht mehr total clean spielen kann.
Ohne den TS hat man auch nur mit Gain auf 10Uhr einen total cleanen Sound.
Wobei man wieder mehr Volume benötigt.

Und hier gerät der EVH an seine Grenzen:
Mit 50Watt ist nicht viel Headroom da im Clean Kanal.
In einer Live-Situation ist das Volume bei mir auf 2Uhr um mit den verzerrten Kanälen mithalten zu können. Und hier zerrt der Kanal noch ein wenig mehr. Auch mit einer 16Ohm Box kann man hier bei manchen Location schon mal Lautstärke-Probleme haben.
Der Charakter von Kanal 1 ist für meinen Geschmack ein bisschen langweilig. Zu trocken und wenig Obertöne wie ich finde. Da kenne ich Besseres von meinem Engl.

Fazit:
Ich schätze nicht jeder wird den EVH mögen, wenn man aber weiß wie man ihn handhaben muss dann muss ich sagen dass ich ihn gerne behalte.
Live macht der Amp im Mix einen guten Eindruck.
Obwohl ich bei wenigen Punkten nicht so zufrieden bin.
Die zwei 6L6 Röhren werden hinten ganz schön warm, ich hoffe dass ich mich noch länger auf den Amp verlassen kann.
Die Größe war jedoch für mich auch sehr entscheidend, weniger Gewicht und kleiner ist im Live-Betrieb schon praktisch.
Das eingebaute Noise-Gate von meinem Engl-Amp vermisse ich sehr.

Trotzdem eine klare Kaufempfehlung!
