The real thing - not for Goodtimes only!
This is a modern style, standard banjo bracket nut wrench fitting 9/32" (about 7.14 mm) nuts. It's very well made with correct proportions, precisely machined socket and good plating.
Other than for Goodtime banjos as advertised, this T-wrench fits nicely all modern Asian banjos starting from the next price level above the cheapest - i.e. all models equipped with round instead of flat bracket hooks. This includes the latest generations of Harley Benton BJ-55Pro and BJ-65Pro - Thomann's house brand - plus Fender (Concert Tone 54 up to 59 but not 300), Gretsch (all Broadkasters plus Special and Deluxe among Dixie) and I guess even the Ibanez B200 since is fitted with the same round hooks. All of these banjos come with the standard 24-bracket configuration whereas, with notable exception of Deering Goodtime and Recording King (using US sizes), nearly all the cheapest entry level banjos on the market these days are equipped either with 18 to 24 flat hooks for wood rimmed models and 30 flat hooks for aluminium integral rim/ring/flange. The bracket nuts on the latter are smaller and require a different size key (which at present isn't offered by Thomann).
Since many about the better Asian banjos including the costlier ones come randomly from the factory with a good quality Allen trussrod wrench but often the unwieldy L-shaped combination bracket wrench/Phillips screwdriver instead of the proper (and traditional as well) bracket T-wrench, I can but recommend purchasing one of these excellent Deering T-wrenches to be kept in the case, if not more than one to have it another handy at home or if you own more than one banjo, or better still if you plan buying another one among those I listed.
Along with a digital micro tuner, a good capo (Paige or Shubb is matter of personal preference if you play a 5-string banjo), extra strings, a polishing cloth (mandatory if your banjo's hardware happens to be nickel or gold plated but negligible if chrome plated) and your favorite set of picks if you're a 3-finger picker, this little tool is an absolute must.
