As Lisa Simpson would say: "Meh!"
The idea is good, but in my opinion the doughnut model "Big Fat Snare Drum Steve's Donut 14" " is way better. The doughnut model has a hole in the centre, while this one doesn't. The hole makes a whole lot of difference! (Pun intended). Both sound almost identical (the doughnut has a tiny higher pitch). It happens that the doughnut version offers all features of a normal snare drum, including a natural bouncing and the rough skin surface (for playing with the brush, for instance). This one, the Original, cover the whole drum with a smooth, glossy surface and kills the bouncing. Thus, you can neither roll nor use the brush (at least I can't). The sound is great, but the doughnut version also sounds great, so no advantage in getting this one. Anyhow, it is not bad, but makes you miss some functions.
