I've been using the Zoom H6 as a field recorder with my camera rig. The EXH-6 allows 2 extra inputs along side the existing inputs on the H6.
The unit plugs into the H6 in the same way as the other add- on capsules.
Connection to the inputs is via non locking combo XLR/TRS sockets, providing both microphone and line inputs with the same specifications as the inputs on the main unit.
Just like the other attachments for the H6, the EXH-6 is a very sturdy, metal cased accessory.
I have seen certain reviws which criticize the use of non-locking XLR sockets. I suppose to a degree the advantage gained by using locking sockets would be a matter of taste. Would you prefer your portable recording device to go flying if a cable is pulled by mistake, or would you prefer it to come out of its socket? In any case, the action of the connection when inserting a plug feels sturdy and secure.
The HXH-6 does not support phantom powered microphones. This, in my view is a major shortcoming, but maybe a 'version 2' will.

Gives some great options

I have a pair of H5's and the EXH-6 really expands what I can achieve in a recording. It's turned my H5 into a 4 track that's practically pocket sized

Fantastic Add on to an already fantastic unit

the Zoom EXH-6 Combo Capsule is a fantastic add on to the Zoom H6 recorder unit.

Although the h6 has 4 XLR ports on it being able to expand the the unit by another 2 ports is pure ingenious.

When your out and about filming or especially recording a a band you can never have enough audio inputs that will then give you plenty of tracks that will allow you to have your pick of things that may well of been missed.

If you hadn't got this little and quite reasonably priced add on to an already fantastic product that Zoom have created at the time when you bought your zoom recorder unit and you needed to record more than the 4 inputs that you had on the unit you would be kicking your self more than just once.

If your hesitating about buying this unit I would recommend JUST BUY IT you wont regret it I know that I have for one second

I bought the Zoom EXH-6 Combo Capsule from Thomann couple of months ago. I have been using this with my Zoom H6 for additional inputs. This extension works as well with the Zoom F4 and F8 which is really cool.
Nothing bad to say at all about this, ut simply does the job and gives you additional inputs for your recorders.
I recommend this capsule.
