Real Plexis are pretty expensive. This pedal is not cheap as pedals go, but it's much cheaper than a real Plexi amp, and with my tweed Fender-style amp it gets me 90% of that sound.
It's not for metalheads, but it does a great impersonation of the Frusciante (RHCP) / Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) Marshall-on-the-cusp-of-overdrive low-gain Plexi sound.
I also like to use it to boost my Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian muff pedal. It nails the "Strip My Mind" solo sound like that. It also takes TS-808 style pedals very well, so you can plug one of those into it for scorching solos.
My only issue was that there were small but noticeable scratches on the bottom of the pedal (they don't go through the paint) - maybe a Thomann customer test-drove it and wasn't careful, or the pedal might have been returned by someone. But it works very well and I put velcro on the back of it anyway to stick it to my pedalboard, so I've decided to live with the minor cosmetic issue.
Got this pedal a good few months ago and has been great ever since , its the clearest distortion i have ever used and you can perform nice soft distortions and i you crank up the gain knob all the way it sounds great.
