It came with some roundwound strings, 12s I think, which I changed to some flat wound 13s. The fingerboard was a bit dry so I oiled it. I had to adjust the neck with he supplied allen key and set the intonation and action to suit me.
If you know how to do this then this guitar is a bargain. It is essentially a copy of an ES-175 but the main difference is the 1.75" inch nut... this is what made me buy this particular guitar. I wanted an archtop and after years of playing guitars with similar nut widths the Loar LH-280 fitted the bill perfectly. The sound is good both unplugged and through my amp. I would have no problem gigging with it either. I was dubious about buying a Chinese made guitar but it does the job for me.
I also had some trepidation about buying online and having it sent overseas as I had never bought a guitar in this way before. It arrived within two days of ordering, very well packed and I could track the parcel every step of the way.
Top marks to both The Loar guitars and Thomann, I am a very satisfied customer.
The guitar is good. The sound acoustically is very nice and also with the amp. A great copy of es175. Tuners, bone nut, pickups, bridge and everything is good. However there are 2 things that I don't like in this. 1st is the neck part that connects to the body has some bad finish, though its a cheap guitar. But still I didn't have that in my other Chinese guitars. 2nd which I really think that is not really good is the volume and tone control of the neck pick up is reversed. So whenever I turn the tone up it gives me volume And vice versa. It's just "why didn't thomann checked this before shipping. It felt like thomann sent me not their best Load LH-280-cbk model. But other than that the guitar is really good.
