I know I give high ratings, the glass is ussually half full with me. The sound of this reed is very smooth. I use thinner reeds because of the wide mouth piece: Otto Link Super Tone Master 7* and a Steve goodson neck on a medium quality Yamaha sax Yas-32. As long as the notes come out loud and clear I'm happy with the thinner cane for this set-up. I found thicker reeds hard to deal with. In comparison to my Keilworth tenor I use a size 4 plasticover. This medium price range reed is fine for me, as long as it sounds good, which this one does. I was pleasantly surprised by these Steuer ones as they are smooth but a bit deep (bassy?) as well. They respond well to rough guttoral noises as I blow, i.e. expression is very good. The heart is left slightly rough as opposed to completely smooth, this does sound good, maybe adding a bit of character to the sound.
