I've used the Remo CS Dot snare head for about a decade now. It's the perfect combination of sensitive but not too lively, and long-lasting without being too damped. It's a little less ringy than an Ambassador, but that means it requires less damping. It's really easy to tune and has a wide workable range - I like my snare drum tight and poppy, but it works for that deep punchy snare sound just as well. Probably not the best snare for a jazz player (they might want a Diplomat) or a hard-hitting metal player (maybe an Emperor-X) but for most all-round styles, this is perfect.
