I replaced the Remo Ambassador coated drumheads on my kit with CS black dot heads. The difference was quite striking. Tensioned to a mid range tuning the heads (13" and 16") had a loud and resonant tone with no unpleasant overtones. The black centre dot gives a punchy attack improving the stick definition immensely. The coated snare batter head has the black dot underneath the head to make it possible for brush playing. This is a very loud drumhead and the black dot gives a muscular fat thwack in the centre of the head with none of the fading of tone that you can get with other heads. These heads are an excellent choice for working drummers - great tone - hard wearing and they look cool as well. Jazz drummers often sneer at these heads for being insensitive but they were the choice of head for the great Tony Williams and you can`t get a better recommendation than that!
