Den store Thomann online-rådgiver: Classical Guitars

5. Woods

The woods used in classical guitar construction are fairly well standardised, at least in the most important parts - the top (soundboard) is only rarely made of anything other than spruce (or occasionally cedar), while maple is most commonly used for the neck and fretboard.

Rosewood and ebony are the favourites for the bridge, while other exotic woods including mahogany and Brazilian rosewood are sometimes used for the back and sides. The top is felt to be the most important factor in the guitar’s sound, and a tight, straight grain is crucial to a loud and clear sound. High-end instruments often use wood that has been seasoned for many years.
