I bought this unit to control my analogue CV/GATE synths. It has 12 output channels and each can be assigned to act as a CV or GATE track.
The CV notes can be programmed via a dial knob (select a step and move the knob to the desired note value, or select several steps via SHIFT button to set same notes to several steps at once). Although it is not as fast on a regular step sequencer, the benefit of this sequencer is that you can save the patterns.
The GATES can be programmed very easily just by pressing desired step buttons and their length and output level can be very easily set via the dial knob (same way as in CV mode). This allows setting very short GATE times that can act as TRIGGERS (I use it to control my Simmons SDS drum module this way).
The downside is that manual could be much more comprehensive. A lot of important things are not explained and have to be found out on your own.
But they have a great support team and I received all the answers I needed within one hour of emailing it to them!
I bought this item as i wanted a handy, easy and to use and multi-purpose sequencer for my eurorack setup. I have to say that MFB has done an excellent job: This little machine features CV, Gate, AD and LFO's which can be programmed into each channel and used with ease. All the relevant features expected from a sequencer are also there shuffle, loads of steps (64), external sync, quantize etc.
I am using this for literally anything i need in my system and it has been an indispensable part of my workflow. Be it drums to trigger, oscillators to play melodies with or stuff that needs envelopes and LFOs, i always go back to the Seq 3. The 16 steps availability ensure there's always enough CV/Trigger/AD/LFOs.
The only thing i didnt like too much is that the manual is not very clearly written. This means its tricky to make a quick start using the module. But once you do some reading & research it then becomes very easy to use and it unlocks it's secrets for you to use.
