I've seen other cheaper makes of bongos stands. The Meinl stand is at a much higher level . The extra money paid are for durability and most of all stability. This stand makes a very stable setup for the bongos. Given that bongos are percussive instruments that are continuously being hit, stability might be a serious issue. If you need a durable and stable bongo stand go for the Meinl one.
Bought this stand to go with my Meinl Bongo's. The perfect combo! One of the best built stands i have used. The clamp at the top is designed very well, keeps the bongo's locked in extremely tight! Played a few gig's with it so far and it is very steady even when playing hard. The legs can spread fairly wide if needed, but i found it was still stable with them not at full reach. Can't find a fault with this stand, it even folds up rather small and doesn't weigh a whole lot! If your looking for a stand that's going to last then you've found it!
