This simply lays over the hi hat rod of your hi hat stand to add a slight shaker chic sound to your hi hat pedal press.
I wasn't overly impressed with the volume of the chic sound at first as I thought it would be louder, as acoustically it wasn't very noticeable unless it was picked up the hi hat mic, you will notice a difference in the hi hat sound slightly when focused in, but to make it more obvious, I bought a second one of these and now it more pronounced and obvious and it very clearly adding a shaker sound when I play the hi hat pedal.
The quality if great, it never slips, it looks pretty cool, and when you rubber band one of these on to your current shakers, it can add a nice sandy shake sound.
As the title states, these are a great idea. Nice way to add depth to that hi-hat foot work. They look nice as well. The only problem is, they are not particularly sensitive; they only 'chick' when the hi-hat is closed with some force. We're not talking stamping on the pedal, but they will not activate when doing some light, breezy hi-hat work. If they could address this... perfect.
