I have bought this stand to be used for drum and guitar recordings. Right now, I am using it for snare micing (below), bass drum micing (inside and outside) and also guitar and bass cabinets. In all of these applications, the stand is doing a great job. I don't think I am ever going to buy a different one for these applications.
Overall, the stand is sturdy and robust. All the screws, pivots and joints are well built and will last a long time if handled properly.
The only thing where I thought it was lacking was when micing the inside of a bass drum. If you have a deep bass drum or if you need to get really deep in with the mic (just behind the batter head) you might get problems with mics that are heavy. In these situations, it is difficult to keep the stand ffrom toppling over. You will need to tighten the base screw really fast to stop the boom arm flom gliding down slowly.
Other than that, it is a great stand and I would definitely buy it again. It's so much more robust than any of the cheap models and it's still reasonable in price.
