I like the sound of this speaker for anything from crystal clean sounds to light bluesy crunch but not for modern higher gain sounds.
I bought one not for a replacement but to build an isolation cab. For that the small size is good but still, the cone is smooth not ribbed/wavy like celestions. I guess that's one reason. The sound is very bright with very little bass.
Now I have it on a club-cab with one 10" and two 8" speakers and it fits the mix nicely.
I would recommend using a diffuser with this speaker, to ease the top end and to add dispersion.
I'm satisfied with this, for it is cheap and there's no real competitor for it either... Would recommend.
I got this to replace the broken speaker in my microcube An easy swop with no cutting involved I removed the original broken 4 inch speaker & screwed this to the back of the Mdf speaker panel It gets rid of the boxy sound from the 4 inch speaker & makes the Microcube a lot more usable
