This adapter is not mandatory to be able to use iConnectivity MIDI & Audio interfaces (iConnectMIDI2+, etc.). However, if you wish for your iOS device not to loose power during studio work or live performances than this adapter is necessary. It keeps your iOS device powered up and charges it.
The adapter comes in a small flimsy box with iConnectivity sticker on it. No manual, no extra features. It is just an ordinary AC adapter with output of 6V 3000mA 18W and is produced by Golden Profit Electronics Ltd. (made in china).
The only reason I bought this adapter is because of iConnectivity warnings to charge only with their adapter, otherwise there is the risk of damaging the interface. Also this adapter type (with output 6V 3000mA) could be considered to be rare. So I decided to buy the official adapter, though I think any adapter would work as long as the output is the same.
The build is standard. The wire is long enough. Overall, I think it should have come with the original interface, though it is not needed to have the interface work properly. Also if you do not have the adapter the iOS device will keep flashing a notice that this device is not supported, which it first will make you wonder if everything is ok.
Recommended buy if you use your iOS device in live performances or long hours in studio, or are really annoyed with the notice of unsupported device from your iOS.
