Great little unit: Plenty of gain and very silent operation
pnoman 17.05.2017
It's a great little unit that works as advertised. Using AAA batteries is for me an advantage compared to 9V batteries, and it works well with NiMH rechargables, and is very compact and appear sturdy.

The sound is quite clean and is possibly a bit better than e.g. the built-in headphone amp in some of my keyboards (running line to the stick and then to the in-ears sounds more open than plugging the in-ears directly into the keyboard).

It takes either a balanced mono signal or an unbalanced stereo signal in either jack or XLR form. It has two internal switches: stereo-mono mode and high-low, which essentially attenuates the output 6 dB for use when your in-ears are sensitive (I run mine with Shure SE-425 and use the low setting).

It has a hard limiter built into the input, so as soon as you go just a bit above line level, it kicks in and sounds pretty distorted -- but it also helps to protect your ears somewhat from too loud feedback noises... Just make sure your normal listening levels at the input are around line level, so that any feedback will trigger the limiter.

I use it mainly for live playing, but it also works just fine when e.g. practicing bass at home: Just plug in the instrument directly in the jack, and there's enough gain to give you a full bass sound in the in-ears.

The only slightly negative is the gain knob, which initially is very sensitive (small adjustments gives a large increase in gain) but then the difference becomes smaller. It's almost like the going from 1 to 2 equals the difference between 5 and 10 (assuming 10 would be full scale).

It works fine - however, read below before purchase...
Mr. Bouquet 07.07.2018
1. If anybody was wondering, yes, you need a special cable to run stereo with the Fisher Amps In Ear Stick. Several options can be found at Thomann.

2. Needs to be secured to something thicker than the pocket of your jeans - your guitarstrap for example. This is pretty annoying for someone who like me changes guitars a lot though. I sure would have liked to have known this before I bought mine.

3. A bit finicky - and concerning at first - trying to access the inside with the battery compartment and the dip-switches - but it's fine once you get used to it.

4. If you are contemplating whether to go wireless or wired (like I was), having another cable running alongside my guitar cable, doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Think of it this way - if you don't have a problem being wired for your guitar, you're gonna be fine with being wired for you IEM. Just make sure you get a cable at least as long as your guitar cable, preferably longer.

Perfect wired beltpack
Olemik 19.08.2019
Excellent sound quality and built like a tank. Full featured with mono/stereo options etc. and loong battery life. Fastened in a trouser belt on your back, you will hardly notice that this is a wired setup. Did a full night gig before lockdown - stored it away for 18 months and has now played 3 rehearsal nights without changing batteries. And it's not dead yet!

Excellent sound quality, compact design, with lots of volume!
Mickey Mack 04.08.2020
I use this amp on stage to get extra volume from my in-ear monitors, so that I can hear my live vocals and guitar more clearly. I play with an acoustic guitar duo, in very noisey environments.

Pros
- very easy to set up and use
- the extra volume from the amp means that I can hear the mix over the background noise through my in-ear monitors
- excellent sound quality
- solid design. The metal casing feels strong, so I don't worry about damaging the amp during transporation, storage or on-stage
- compact size
- battery powered (no need for long cable runs between a charger and an a/c outlet)
- the belt clip feature makes it easy to wear securely on stage
- the volume control, at the top, it easy to access quickly

Cons
- it's feel a little heavy (but only slightly)

I recommend this amp for anyone who needs great quality sound, with extra volume, for their in-ear monitors on stage.
