Guitar hero Zakk Wylde prefers the rare combination: Single Cut + EMG and sounds impressive with that. That's why the Zakk Wylde Pro Set consists of one EMG 81 for the bridge position (causing a long sustain and razor sharp attack - which is, despite being rare, important in combination with a high output pickup. It is just ideal for concise, thrilling lead lines and furious guitar art.) and one the EMG 85 (PAF model of EMG) for the somewhat tamer, bluesy sound on the neck position.

Everything else you need (potentiometer, cable jacks) is provided. The potentiometers are long models that fit properly into a single cut.

Upgrade off a GIBSON Les Paul custom R7

Installed it with ease including a pa2 booster bought another emg 81’ zw pickup for neck position! Two volume and one tone controls and result is a black GIBSON Les Paul custom R7 with performance like Zakk Wylde famous camouflage model!! Jeg har aldrig hørt bedre pickups, fantasisk med lidt crunch/distortion på, eller meget. Hvis man ønsker at bytte sine pickups ud med disse skal der dog lige tjekkes om der er plads til de diverse dele i guitaren, det kneb lidt med batteriet i min. top end pickups med top end lyd.

Love the bridge pickup, very good neck one. Might need some woodwork but great set

I'm not very good in soldering stuff so, when I was going to try an upgrade for the SG type I own I decided to stick on this set.

PROs
1) The sound is really different from the standard humb I previously have. I can say it's more balanced when using both positions. The great different I feel is more on the bridge pickup, a crunchy, powerful long sustained sound, great for riffs with a distortion effect. 2) The neck one has a more similar sound than a standard humb, yet it's very powerful.
3) The solderless cables are superb if you're not used to do this kind of work. They are quite resistant so you can stress them a little bit excluding the risk of breaking them.

CONs
De facto you'll have to study where and how to put the stuff in place. I didn't have a guitar with battery holder. So you need to reserve a space for the 9V battery. You need to place the battery not too far from the jack input, so I suggest to do a little plan measuring each part and where to place it. I had to dig a little hole with a tools file and changing the position of one of the screws of the cover. On the EMG website there's a tutorial video on a Gibs Les Paul and you can find all the specifications you need to evaluate the kit.
The only negative thing I found was this: the battery to jack cable a little too short so I had to do a little woodworking.

By the way, the pickups are a huge step up from the standard ones. I can't compare them to old Gibs humbs or competitors, but for my case they were great.

Installed them into my Epiohone Les Paul Custom pro.
They do what you would expect from a EMG set.

I was amazed about how easy it is to install these!

If you are looking for a good metal tone and a system which is easy to install, I fully reccomend checking these out, they are worth the money.
