I used this tube first as a replacement tube in a Vox VT15 practice amp. This practice amp seemed as a piece of junk as a sound, with a huge amount of a noise even in a gainless clean setup. Then it started to lose power in a middle if the piece and turned into a low level signal with a high amount of noise. I was considering to throw it in the garbage as it is. Then I replaced the tube (a cheap china Rubytube), and the gain drop which almost all users complained about stopped, the noise is considerably reduced, and the sound became warm. I wouldn't say that it makes a competition to my full tube Carvin amp, but it became really nice sounding amp. Sometimes I even record the sound with a mic, and sits right in the mix. I also inserted into an Alesis mictube solo, to replace the crappy stock tube. Noisefloor reduced considerably, and it sounds better. Compared to a JJ tube, the JJ is more quiet, but also more flat and sterile. I like this tube as a preamp tube, and I recommend definitely.
