This is my go-to interview microphone. It uses phantom power or an AA battery, I always use an AA as it saves my recorder's battery life.
I have predominately used on location (indoors) in people's houses, living rooms and in some work environments (public buildings)
Here are the best points about this item 1. Small and light, easy to hand-hold without undue handling noise.
2. Very sturdy and well-made
3. Sensitive, with little hiss
4. Dual power options
I find I turn to it whenever I have a fairly quiet interview space.
One minor work of warning, without the low-cut filter (on the handle) engaged it is very sensitive to handling and extraneous sounds. The first time I used it like that there were people milling around upstairs and they recorded like a herd of elephants.
Switch on the low-cut, leave it on and you'll love it. Has never let me down
