Abbey<\/strong> Road<\/strong> Studios<\/strong>, founded in 1931 by EMI<\/strong>, are located in the homonymous and famous street (precisely Abbey Road), part of the St. John’s<\/strong> Wood<\/strong> district<\/a> in London<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Abbey<\/strong> Road’s fame<\/strong>, however, is actually not linked entirely to the recording studio itself, but more to the pedestrian<\/strong> crossing<\/strong> placed right in front of the building that houses the rooms: as many of you will know, on those pedestrian crossings Iain<\/strong> Macmillan<\/strong> photographed The<\/strong> Beatles<\/strong> for the cover of the famous album “Abbey Road”; today those crosswalks<\/strong> are considered a British<\/strong> national treasure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Not only were Beatles albums were recorded at Abbey Road Studios, but also “The Dark Side of the Moon<\/strong><\/em>” (1973) by Pink<\/strong> Floyd<\/strong>, “The Bends<\/strong><\/em>” (1995) by Radiohead<\/strong>, Lady<\/strong> Gaga’s<\/strong> second album “Born<\/strong> This<\/strong> Way<\/strong><\/em> \u201d(2011) and several works by Ed<\/strong> Sheeran<\/strong>. If we talk about soundtracks, among the most famous recorded at Abbey Road Studios are the soundtracks of all the films of the Harry<\/strong> Potter<\/strong> saga.<\/p>\n

London’s<\/strong> Air<\/strong> Studios<\/strong> are located in the suburb of Hampstead<\/strong><\/a> in what was originally a church and missionary school, Lyndhurst<\/strong> Hall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They consist of three<\/strong> recording studios<\/strong>, several writing rooms<\/strong> and Lyndhurst Hall, one of the largest recording rooms in the world, capable of hosting a full\u00a0symphony<\/strong> orchestra<\/strong> complete with choir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Among Air Studios’ strength, there’s certainly the room acoustics<\/strong>, in particular that of Lyndhurst<\/strong> Hall<\/strong>, which is excellent because of how the room was designed<\/strong> and thanks to the team of sound engineers who made it, including its founder Sir George Martin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Katy<\/strong> Perry<\/strong>, U2<\/strong>, Liam<\/strong> Gallagher, Thom Yorke<\/strong> and, more recently, Coldplay<\/strong> have recorded their hits and records here, as well as countless soundtracks for action<\/strong> and animated films<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Capitol<\/strong> Studios<\/strong> was founded in the Capitol<\/strong> Records<\/strong> Tower<\/strong> in Hollywood<\/strong> in 1956. In the same year Frank<\/strong> Sinatra<\/strong> recorded the album “Frank Sinatra Conducts Tone Poems of Color<\/strong><\/em>“. Rumour has it that his microphone<\/strong> remained there and that it was subsequently also used by the Bastille<\/strong> (‘Paris<\/em>‘, remember?).<\/p>\n

Inside the prestigious rooms of Capitol Studios, Nat \u2018King\u2019 Cole<\/strong>, Oasis<\/strong>, Daft<\/strong> Punk<\/strong>, Muse<\/strong> and Imagine<\/strong> Dragons<\/strong> have also been recorded, among many others.<\/p>\n

On the southeastern coast of the United States of America, in 1958, Mack<\/strong> Emerman<\/strong> founded Criteria Recording Studios<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In an atmosphere of general amazement (due to the fame that these studios reached in a short period of time, even though they were far from New York and Los Angeles, where the music scene of the time had its core), the Criteria<\/strong> Recording<\/strong> Studios<\/strong> produced some of the most famous albums of the ’70s, such as Derek and the Dominos<\/strong>‘ (Eric Clapton’s band) \u201cLayla and Other Assorted Love Songs<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (1970), Allman Brothers<\/strong>‘ “Eat a Peach<\/strong>“<\/em> (1972) and the soundtrack of the “Saturday Night Fever<\/strong><\/em>” (1977), of which the Bee<\/strong> Gees<\/strong> are authors and performers of the main songs.<\/p>\n

Over time, the Criteria<\/strong> Recording<\/strong> Studios<\/strong>, which are now called\u00a0The Hit Factory Criteria Miami<\/strong>, became a trending topic again thanks to the investment their owner made in modern<\/strong> technologies<\/strong>, becoming the “Studios” favoured by many east coast artists. Coldplay<\/strong> and Gucci<\/strong> Mane<\/strong> recently recorded their works there.<\/p>\n

Jimi<\/strong> Hendrix<\/strong> did not have much time to enjoy Electric<\/strong> Lady<\/strong> Studios<\/strong>: the artist died only four weeks after their foundation, which took place in 1970.<\/p>\n

Located in the Greenwich<\/strong> Village<\/strong> neighbourhood of New<\/strong> York<\/strong>, these rooms with a modern and futuristic design have welcomed great artists, who have left indelible marks in the history of music: Led<\/strong> Zeppelin<\/strong>\u00a0recorded “Houses of the Holy<\/strong><\/em>” (1973), Patty<\/strong> Smith<\/strong> her album “Horses<\/strong><\/em>” (1975) and more recently Adele<\/strong> and Lorde<\/strong> have also recorded some of their most famous songs here.<\/p>\n

The Conway<\/strong> Recording<\/strong> Studios<\/strong> in Los<\/strong> Angeles<\/strong>, surrounded by a real tropical garden, have always been a family-run business: they were purchased by Buddy<\/strong> and Susan<\/strong> Brundo<\/strong> in 1976, and since then have hosted some of the greatest<\/strong>\u00a0music<\/strong> artists<\/strong> on the planet such as Barbara<\/strong> Streisand<\/strong>, Michael<\/strong> Jackson<\/strong>, the Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/strong> and Justin<\/strong> Bieber<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It was in 1977 when Tony<\/strong> Bongiovi<\/strong>, founder of The Power Station<\/strong>, discovered and launched his cousin’s band, led by a guy named Jon<\/strong> Bon<\/strong> Jovi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This studio, known for hosting TV shows and talkshows, was sold in 1996 and its name changed to “Avatar<\/strong> Studios<\/strong>“. Today it is owned by the Berklee<\/strong> College<\/strong> of Music<\/strong> and, since September 2017, has regained its original<\/strong> name<\/strong>. It also appears to be undergoing renovations to guarantee contemporary<\/strong> artists adequate and up-to-date equipment<\/strong> and technologies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Paul McCartney<\/strong>, Bruce Springsteen<\/strong>, Bruno Mars<\/strong> and Madonna<\/strong> are some of the great artists who chose The<\/strong> Power<\/strong> Station<\/strong> for recording some of their hits.<\/p>\n

The studio founded by Bernie<\/strong> Grundman<\/strong> in 1983 was met with a fair media echo in Los<\/strong> Angeles<\/strong>, a notoriety obtained thanks to the high quality sound produced here and the overwhelming technical skills of its founder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bernie Grundman, a man who was esteemed for his wide knowledge and skills in sound engineering, has attracted several musical legends in his studio, personally contributing to the realisation of some of the most important records in the history of music such as “Aja<\/strong><\/em>” by Steely Dan<\/strong>, ” Thriller<\/em><\/strong> “by Michael Jackson<\/strong>,” Purple Rain<\/strong><\/em> “by Prince<\/strong> and” The Chronic<\/strong><\/em> “by Dr<\/strong>. Dre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Other artists that have recorded their music here include\u00a0The<\/strong> Carpenters<\/strong>, Herb<\/strong> Alpert<\/strong>, Sergio<\/strong> Mendes<\/strong>, The Doors<\/strong>, Joe Cocker<\/strong>, Joni Mitchell,<\/strong> Burt Backarach, Jackson Brown, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Supertramp, Procal Harum. In 1993 Bob<\/strong> Ludwig<\/strong>, vice president and chief engineer of Masterdisk<\/strong>, decided to start his own business and founded his own mastering company in Maine: the “Gateway Mastering Studios<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

Despite his stubbornness and determination to enter in the competitive world of studios, Ludwig’s greatest fear<\/strong> was that of not being able to acquire sufficient<\/strong> notoriety<\/strong> and therefore carve out a place in the history<\/strong> of recording<\/strong> studios<\/strong>; over time, however, he was considered one of the most experienced technicians in the scene and recognised by artists such as Nirvana<\/strong>, Metallica<\/strong>, Queen<\/strong>, Guns N ‘Roses<\/strong> and many others.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, the EastWest<\/strong> Studios<\/strong> in Los<\/strong> Angeles<\/strong>; these Studios hold a record: they have in fact produced the highest number of Grammy<\/strong>–winning<\/strong> albums in history.<\/p>\n

Characteristics that distinguish these recording rooms from the others are the incredible ornaments, the iconic curtains and the huge and sumptuous<\/strong> chandeliers<\/strong>. The peculiar feature, however, is not tangible: the managers of the EastWest<\/strong> Studios<\/strong> respect the artists’ personal<\/strong> and creative<\/strong> space<\/strong> and their privacy<\/strong> is their utmost priority.<\/p>\n

Recent projects include the soundtrack of the film “La<\/strong> La<\/strong> Land<\/strong><\/em>” (2016) and Ed<\/strong> Sheeran’s<\/strong> album “Divide<\/em><\/strong>” (2017).<\/p>\n
