Inspiration often comes as quickly as it goes so the smallest of tweaks can go a long way in kick-starting your creativity once again.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>However, how do you deal with a situation where nothing seems to help? How do you get yourself out of a funk that has lasted days?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>While there is no one blanket answer to this situation, here are a few tips and suggestions to help you along the way.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>#MusicNeverStops<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Change musical genres in songwriting<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a musician, sitting in the studio and working on the same songs over and over can become tiring and tedious, even more so if you only work within one specific <strong>genre of music<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A not-so-secret music secret is to work on musical genres <strong>that you are not accustomed to<\/strong>.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By doing this you are challenging yourself by actively practising and creating <strong>outside of your comfort zone<\/strong>. Breaking out of your comfort zone will further contribute towards your <strong>development<\/strong> as a musician.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Different genres also use<strong> different styles of playing<\/strong> and<strong> composing<\/strong>. Many successful creatives are extremely <strong>detail oriented<\/strong> and they stick to a relatively strict schedule when it comes time to work on their art and their craft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With that being said, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/making-music-in-the-21st-century\/how-to-make-your-recording-studio-session-as-productive-as-possible-4ed63ba06602\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">structuring your sessions<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can greatly help towards shaking-off any rust as you will be clearing all distractions and <strong>focusing on one scheduled task at a time<\/strong>. You\u2019ll be recreating the<strong> chord progression<\/strong>, <strong>drum pattern<\/strong>,<strong> melodies <\/strong>etc <strong>from scratch<\/strong> and then putting it all together. This means you really have to pay close attention to whichever song you choose to work on so you can pick out all the details.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Analytical listening<\/strong> is a skill you will have to constantly develop as a musician and <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edmprod.com\/remake-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remaking songs<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a great way to sharpen your analytical listening skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Remove distractions when writing songs<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/RAxg9QnPFou5y\/giphy.gif\" width=\"377\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Getting rid of distractions<\/strong> and simply just focusing on the task at hand can often be a difficult thing to do. Sometimes you simply have to<strong> put your phone on airplane mode<\/strong> for an hour and get to work. Or perhaps you need to get out of a particular environment or just<strong> switch off your internet router<\/strong> for a bit. You must take the necessary steps to <strong>create a conducive work environment for yourself<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Don\u2019t Chase the Rabbit<\/h2>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/r9iZmAvefHX68\/giphy.gif\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Often times, as a creative, your <strong>mind<\/strong> can be your own worst enemy. One second you have <strong>a million ideas<\/strong> and the next you have <strong>absolutely nothing<\/strong>. Now I know, you\u2019re probably looking at this step and wondering what <strong>rabbits<\/strong> have to do with creating music. In fact, chances are that you do not own a rabbit and you never will, so let me explain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes when we\u2019re working on music, we will suddenly <strong>get hit with inspiration<\/strong> and we come up with new song ideas. The default <strong>urge<\/strong> would be to immediately start working on this new idea and ditching the project you\u2019re working on. This is what we call \u201c<strong>chasing the rabbit<\/strong>\u201d; <strong>abandoning one idea for the next one simply because you thought of it<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes you have to <strong>get your head down and power through<\/strong>, which means <strong>ignoring all other intrusive thoughts<\/strong>. If you take a step back and apply this principle to your music, and life in general, not only will you <strong>be a more focused person<\/strong> but you will also stop <strong>losing interest so quickly<\/strong> in your songs and projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Creativity<\/strong> is quite <strong>subjective<\/strong> in the sense that no two artists work the same way. Some of these songwriting tips may help you, and some may not. At the end of the day you need to find out what works for you.
