My First Instrument – The initial hook!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the best case scenario you’ve already targeted the ideal instrument. Very likely that this is linked to and instrument that was seen being played by a favourite band or artist. These often include the electric guitars<\/a>, bass<\/a><\/strong> or drums<\/strong><\/a>. These musician heroes<\/strong> are often the initial hook<\/strong> and motivation<\/strong> at the same time. But maybe you were enchanted by the violins<\/strong><\/a> in the classical orchestra or are enthralled by the sound of the trombone<\/strong><\/a>. Interest can also come from a completely different angle, for example from music class<\/strong> at school, where various instruments are at your disposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My First Instrument – Musical taste match?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Everyone is an individual<\/strong> and therefore unique.<\/strong> That is to say: Deciding on the right instrument does not begin with the instrument, but with the person. The top question is: What kind of music do I (or they) prefer listening to? In the vast majority of cases, this will be the music one wants to learn how to play. And for every genre of music<\/strong> there are some typical instruments.<\/strong> For example, the electric guitar<\/strong><\/a> is a popular instrument for rock<\/strong>, pop<\/strong> and metal.<\/strong> In country<\/strong> and folk<\/strong> music the western<\/strong> (steel-string) acoustic guitar<\/strong><\/a>, violin<\/strong><\/a> and banjo<\/a> <\/strong>dominate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it comes down to encouraging undecided<\/strong> people at a young age, it makes sense to dedicate oneself to the classics, such as the recorder<\/a>.<\/strong> You won’t be overwhelmed by this instrument, you will learn the fingering,<\/strong> first melodies<\/strong> and basic knowledge<\/strong> of the notes relatively quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n

Stringed instruments: compact & handy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Depending on a person’s height<\/strong>, you must make sure that the instrument is not too large. Various instruments are also available in sizes suitable for children<\/strong> in addition to the adult size. There are student guitars<\/strong> with a shortened scale<\/strong> and a smaller body<\/strong>, like 3\/4 guitars<\/strong> or 1\/2 guitars<\/strong><\/a>. Transverse flutes<\/strong><\/a>, for example, are available with a curved head-joint<\/a>.<\/strong> The result is that the transverse flute is shorter<\/strong> than the standard version, which is easier for kids or smaller people to handle. A cornet<\/strong><\/a> is a good introduction to the brass<\/strong><\/a> world. It is somewhat shorter than a trumpet<\/strong> and therefore has a good center of gravity for youngsters. My First Instrument<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the long-lasting joy of making music<\/strong>, consider how popular an instrument is. The guitar is one of the most popular stringed instruments par excellence. However, if the goal is to play in a band one day, it may well be that musicians are looking for a drummer<\/strong> or a bassist,<\/strong> because there are not quite as many of them. The same applies to violins<\/strong><\/a>, an instrument that appeals to many. In the violin orchestra, however, there is perhaps more room for the viola <\/strong>(or the cello<\/strong>)<\/a>.<\/strong> In this sense, “more exotic instruments” also have the potential of being a very first instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
