Jack White? The guy from White Stripes<\/a>?<\/h3>\n

Well, yes, and several other great bands and projects (The Upholsterers<\/strong><\/a>, The Raconteurs<\/strong><\/a>, The Dead Weather<\/strong><\/a>, as well as his solo career<\/strong><\/a>)! This American<\/strong> guitarist and vocalist knows how to give each one of these projects a particular flavour. If in White Stripes he pioneered a genre<\/strong> that mixes the blues<\/strong> and the most primitive punk,<\/strong> in Raconteurs he develops a more muscular\u00a0rock<\/strong> and in Dead Weather he made sensuality<\/strong> and the crooner persona<\/strong> its signature. The second of those mentioned, The Raconteurs, has just released an album: Help Us Strangers<\/strong><\/em> (Third Man Records, 2019) is the third LP from the band that White established in 2006 with Brendan Benson<\/strong>, Patrick Keeler<\/strong> and one of his lifelong teammates, Jack Lawrence<\/strong>. As you read this, The Raconteurs are taking their new songs around the world. Some new songs that affect the identity of the band: melodies, timeless riffs,<\/strong> White’s usual classiness<\/strong> and love of the purest<\/strong> six-string rock<\/strong> (that now seems almost archaic),\u00a0all the while staying true to to his roots. And, well, you’ll understand that we’ll need to discuss guitars<\/strong> if we want to focus on Jack White. In this case not the guitars themselves but the guitar sounds<\/strong> that White achieves.<\/p>\n

That’s it. Since most of White’s gear is vintage<\/strong> (and\/or specifically\u00a0modified<\/strong> by him), in this article we’ll focus on how to give your guitar, mainly through amplifiers<\/strong> and pedals,<\/strong> that same howling<\/strong> and powerful sound<\/strong> as the genius from Detroit.<\/strong> As for guitars, White has always used a great variety of brands (Airline,\u00a0Danelectro,\u00a0Gibson, Fender<\/strong>…),<\/strong> but his great love, admitted by himself and applicable to both electric and acoustic guitars, is Gretsch<\/strong>. This mythical brand’s catalogue is very wide, but, to highlight some, we could mention the G6128T-59<\/strong> VS Duo Jet<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and its much cheaper cousin,<\/strong> the\u00a0G5230T Electromatic Jet<\/strong><\/a>. Also, we can’t forget two gorgeous guitars which White uses often (but in different colours), the G6134T Penguin<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0G6118T Anniversary<\/a><\/strong>.
