However, if you don\u2019t have the means to obtain an entire <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/ampeg_heritage_svtcl_2011.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Ampeg SVT HEAD<\/a><\/strong> with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/di_boxes.html?viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>8 \u00d7 10 cabinet<\/strong><\/a>, you should consider the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/ampeg_scr_di.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ampegs SCR-D<\/strong><\/a>I. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/electric_basses.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>bass<\/strong> <\/a>here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/4_string_j_basses.html?filter=true&amp;manufacturer[0]=Fender&amp;viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Fender Precision<\/strong><\/a> with maple fingerboard, which was played with plectrum.<\/p>\n<p>The settings: Drive: 11h, Blend: 1h, Bass: 2h, Mid: 1h, Treble: 3h<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heavy Metal<\/strong><\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-33494-2\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/wav\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/4.wav?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/4.wav\">https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/4.wav<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>No, the harsher styles do not always have to be brutally distorted &#8211; many metal bassists (like the aforementioned Dave Ellefson of Megadeth) use a super clean sound, in which the plectrum strokes are quite clear, to achieve accurate rhythmic accents.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-33520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-5-300x281.jpg\" alt=\"Darkglass Vintage Ultra\" width=\"166\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-5-300x281.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-5-1024x959.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-5-768x719.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-5.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a>In our sound sample a clean sound is used and could be used as an intro. It was played with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/search_dir.html?bf=&amp;sw=Spector%20euro&amp;viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Spector Euro<\/strong><\/a> plugged into a first-class <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/darkglass_vintage_ultra.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Vintage Ultra-Preamp<\/strong><\/a> (which can also be used as a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/di_boxes.html?viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> DI-Box<\/strong><\/a> due to its XLR output!) by the Finnish company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/darkglass.html?viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Darkglass<\/strong> <\/a><strong>.<\/strong> The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/mxr_m_83_bass_chorus_deluxe.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Bass Chorus Deluxe<\/a><\/strong> \u00a0by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/mxr.html\" target=\"_blank\">MXR<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0was also used to expand the sound and to make it glide.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33521 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-6-174x300.jpg\" alt=\"MXR M 83 Bass Chorus Deluxe\" width=\"142\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-6-174x300.jpg 174w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-6-594x1024.jpg 594w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-6.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 142px) 100vw, 142px\" \/><\/a>In the sample, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/darkglass_vintage_ultra.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Vintage Ultra<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/darkglass.html?viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Darkglass<\/strong> <\/a>wasn\u2019t used in its full glory. The distortion section, which can be activated by means of a second foot switch and can be added to the Clean sound, was not used. Instead the pedal was used here as a preamp for the crystal clear and ultra pure sound.<\/p>\n<p>The settings of the Vintage Ultra: Bass: 2h, Lo Mids: 500Hz @ 2h, Hi Mids: 15kHz @ 11h, Treble: 4h. The controls and switches relevant to the drive section were not used. Here are the settings for the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe: Bass: 12h, Treble: 12h, Intensity: 100%, Rate: 11h, Width: 100%<\/p>\n<p><strong>NuMetal (Djent)<\/strong><\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-33494-3\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/wav\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/5.wav?_=3\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/5.wav\">https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/5.wav<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>Modern metal styles like Djent thrive on ultra-distorted riffs. The &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/okko_black_beast.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Black Beast<\/a><\/strong>&#8221; pedal from the German company <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/okko.html?viewMode=block\" target=\"_blank\">Okko <\/a><\/strong>is very well suited for this genre and allows bassists to keep up with guitarists. Although it\u2019s possible for the latter to already have a Black Beast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33526 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8-300x298.jpg\" alt=\"Okko Black Beast\" width=\"195\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8-300x298.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8-1024x1018.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8-768x764.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/blog\/app\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/10\/bass-sounds-we-love-part-2-rock-metal-m-8.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a>This pedal offers the most violent distortion, with loads of gain and sustain. The magic of this pedal is in the knob called KAPUTT (german for broken\/out of order). This control changes the gain structure from plain harmonic distortion to all out nasty fuzz.
