A Phoenix from the ashes: Gibson J-45 Studio Walnut Burst 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

After the bankruptcy in 2018 many Gibson<\/strong> fans had already given up. Enough of that! With the J-45<\/strong>, among others, the traditional manufacturer is making an impressive comeback<\/strong> to the scene. The back, sides, fretboard and bridge are made of walnut<\/strong> in keeping with the current rosewood restrictions<\/strong>. This wood could take on the heritage of rosewood in almost every respect, and Gibson is far ahead in its usage. The shape and scale are in accordance with its own specifications, and the finish is flawless. Gibson has obviously rediscovered the joy of making guitars.<\/p>\n

New on the scene: Taylor Builders Edition 717 WHB<\/a><\/h3>\n

And then there is a completely new development, because with the 717 Taylor<\/strong> launches a bevelled-edge dreadnought<\/strong> invented by Andy Powers<\/strong>, which is also equipped with a completely new V-Class bracing<\/strong>. Many additional ideas like adjustable neck angle or their own pickup system lift these (and other Taylors) directly into the 21st century, although the underlying “ideal” sound<\/strong> is about 100 years old<\/strong>. A great new idea can also be found in the neck, which has something like a combined profile: from a slight V shape<\/strong> to a nice round C shape<\/strong> at the higher registers.<\/p>\n

With a width of 48 millimetres<\/strong>, the neck<\/strong> is much more comfortable than the usual classic neck, and the completely dark body, painted with a matte mahogany burst<\/strong>, is much more modern<\/strong> than the traditional “chiaroscuro” version. This way, learning to play the guitar is fun even for small hands<\/strong> and students<\/strong> who may have been impaired by tradition.<\/p>\n

If there’s an unknown champion among guitar builders, it’s Yamaha.<\/strong> The company covers virtually every type of instrument<\/strong> and is one of the largest, if not the largest, manufacturers of instruments, all with a reputation for being indestructible workhorses<\/strong>. This is also true of the new FGX800C<\/strong>. The dreadnought with the bulky name scores with its chic sand burst<\/strong> look, solid spruce top<\/strong> for dynamic sound and built-in pickup<\/strong> system with tuner.<\/strong> No frills and guaranteed to last long.<\/p>\n
