Before you answer with the word &#8220;money&#8221; there are two other things to consider: <strong>knowledge, inspiration <\/strong>and a solid <strong>plan<\/strong>! In this article we will hopefully provide all three of these things. There are certain components of a rehearsal room that are <strong>indispensable<\/strong>, without them the musicians would either not hear themselves or the output of their musical efforts would be less than satisfactory. Of course, many bands start out humbly, <strong>jamming unplugged<\/strong>, huddled in a circle in their parents&#8217; <strong>basement<\/strong>. But once you reach a certain level of skill and commitment (or not) it&#8217;s time to think about a <strong>highly-functional space dedicated for your craft<\/strong>&#8230;\u00a0???<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">1. Do you want a monthly contract or somewhere where you can pay per hour?\u00a0<strong>Dimensions<\/strong>: Do you need a huge room or something cozy? What suits your needs \/ gear setup?\u00a0<strong>Shape:\u00a0<\/strong>Some acoustics experts agree that if\u00a0 the shape of your room is completely composed of 90-degree angles it&#8217;s not ideal for acoustics. Oddly shaped rooms are better unless they are strategically treated acoustically&#8230;\u00a0<strong>Acoustic treatment:\u00a0<\/strong>We&#8217;ll touch on that later this week in an upcoming article.\u00a0<strong>Amenities:\u00a0<\/strong>Does the space need to be heated or air-conditioned? Do you need running water? It usually consists of <strong>two<\/strong> (or more) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/loudspeakers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>speakers <\/strong><\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/stands_speaker_stands.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> stands<\/strong><\/a> to amplify the mix at a volume compatible with the volume of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/acoustic_drums.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>acoustic drums<\/strong><\/a> (if there are any). You could go without a PA system by using <strong>separate amps<\/strong> for all vocals and instruments but it is usually <strong>much harder to get an even mix<\/strong> this way.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">3. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/pa_mixers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mixer<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>To get the <strong>audio signal<\/strong> into the PA speakers you will need a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/pa_mixers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mixer<\/a><\/strong>, which come in many different types. The most common mixer for a rehearsal room is an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/small_mixers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analog mixer<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/the_t.mix_mix_1202fx.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>12 channels<\/strong><\/a> but even a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/the_t_mix_mix_502.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>5-channel<\/strong><\/a> mixer could be enough, depending on your band&#8217;s setup. <strong>Digital mixers<\/strong> are also great in that they allow for more versatile <strong>AUX output settings<\/strong> and<strong> individual <\/strong>(sometimes<strong> WIFI adjustable<\/strong>)<strong> AUX mixes.<\/strong> This allows each musician to have their own <strong>customised mix<\/strong> in their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/search_dir.html?sw=in-ear+headphones&amp;smcs=d0fed4_2539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>in-ear guitar, keyboard or vocals&#8230;. Generally speaking, for rock bands, you will want to put the<strong> electric guitar(s)<\/strong> through an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/amplifiers_for_electric_guitars.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>amp<\/strong><\/a>. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/bass_amplifiers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>bass amp<\/strong><\/a> can be used for the <strong>bass<\/strong> or alternatively it can be put directly through the mixer and PA speakers. This is called <strong>Direct Injection (DI)<\/strong> and sometimes, if there is the risk of electrical interference, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/di_boxes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>DI box<\/strong><\/a> is required. The same goes for the <strong>keyboard <\/strong>(click here for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/keyboard_amps.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>keyboard amps<\/strong><\/a>). Some genres or configurations only require a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/drum_machines.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>drum machine<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\/or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/percussion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> percussion<\/strong><\/a>. If your room is not well\u00a0<strong>sound-proofed<\/strong> an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomann.de\/gb\/electronic_drums.html?ref=search_prv_0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>electronic drum kit<\/strong><\/a> might be ideal.
