Participation in contests on the website of Musikhaus Thomann (www.thomann.de) and their execution are governed by the following conditions:


1. Contest

The “Band Contest”, in cooperation with Shure and the Montreux Jazz Festival, is organised by Thomann GmbH, Managing Director: Hans Thomann, Hans-Thomann-Str. 1, 96138 Burgebrach, Germany (“organiser”).


2. Participation

  1. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

3. Exclusion from the Contest

  1. Employees of Thomann GmbH, their partners and their relatives (e.g. parents, siblings, spouses) are excluded from participating.

  2. In case of violations of these terms, especially through use of unauthorised aids or manipulation, the organiser reserves the right to disqualify participants. If necessary, prizes may be revoked and reclaimed retroactively.

  3. The contest runs from 12 May 2025 until 25 May 2025 at 23:59:59 (CET). This deadline applies across all platforms. Entries submitted after this time will not be considered.


4. Process and Execution

  1. After correct and timely submission, the winner will be selected from all eligible participants through a multi-stage selection process (outlined in the related blog post).
    The winner will be contacted by the organiser via the email address provided and announced on our social media channels. The winner expressly agrees to this form of publication.
    Winners must confirm acceptance of their prize and provide the necessary information for its delivery.
    If a winner fails to confirm acceptance within 3 days of notification, they forfeit their right to the prize. In this case, the organiser reserves the right to choose a new winner.

  2. Prize-related information will be sent to the winner via the email address provided.

  3. There is no right to exchange prizes for cash or other forms of compensation.

  4. The right to the prize is non-transferable.


5. Prizes

  1. The main prize (1st place) includes:

    • A 1-hour performance slot at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2025

    • Full coverage of travel and accommodation costs for the winning band

    • A €3,000 artist fee

    • Shure equipment worth €7,000

    • Exclusive content production around the performance

Additional prizes:

    1. Exchange of prizes or substitution is excluded. Prize claims are non-transferable.

    2. The actual prize may vary from depicted products in terms of colour, shape, or model.


6. Promotion

Participants agree that no financial or other claims may be made against Thomann or co-organisers due to distribution of content across the internet or other media. All participants grant the organisers the right to use their submissions for promotional and sales purposes, including (but not limited to) broadcasting, advertising, and public performance.

Winners agree that their names (including stage names) and any images or videos of them may be used for promotional purposes relating to the contest, both in print and online.


7. Data Protection

  1. The participant agrees that the organiser may store all data required for the execution of the contest for the duration of the contest. The organiser has partially delegated services necessary for the execution and handling of the contest to third parties (“partners”). The participants’ data will be stored by the partner(s) for the execution and handling of the contest for the duration of the contest. All data will be deleted after the contest has ended and been processed.

  2. By participating in this contest, participants agree that their data may be processed by third parties for the stated purposes, in particular passed on by the organiser to third parties.

  3. Participants may revoke their consent to the processing of their data at any time. The revocation must be made in writing to social@thomann.de. In this case, however, the organiser may have to exclude the participant from further participation. Furthermore, participants have the rights to information and correction of their collected data as guaranteed by the German Federal Data Protection Act.


8. Liability

Upon delivery of the prize, the organisers are released from all obligations.


9. Miscellaneous

  1. Legal recourse is excluded.

  2. German law applies exclusively, excluding the conflict-of-law provisions of international private law.
