Jurassic Park and Jurassic World – The Great Soundtracks

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World – The Great Soundtracks

Steven Spielberg changed cinema’s perspective in 1993 when he unleashed dinosaurs on the world in his stunning sci-fi blockbuster Jurassic Park. Jurassic World: Dominion, directed by Colin T, was recently released in June. From the first to the last episode, the music always creates a unique atmosphere with maximum suspense.

Jurassic World: Dominion is highly anticipated

The end of Jurassic World, by director Colin Trevorrow, was eagerly awaited. Since June, the last film of the trilogy has been teased on international screens, and with more dinosaur disasters and bombastic music phrases than ever before. The music for Dominion was composed by Michael Giacchino, who was also responsible for the previous two episodes of the trilogy. The multi-award-winning composer is famous for his work on films such as Star Trek, television series and video games.

Enter the surreal world of dinosaurs with ease

The score was recorded within ten days at the well-known Abbey Road Studios in London. Giaccino has infused the film’s fantastic scenes with bombastic music. With ease, he manages to transport the listeners and viewers into this surreal world where dinosaurs roam freely. The composer digs deep into his bag of tricks to keep the tension at the highest level. Quite intense!

Highest praise, but critics also speak up

In fact, however, opinions are divided, especially as many of the musical fans cannot get used to Giacchino’s implementation and still prefer the original theme with floating melodic lines and rousing harmonies penned by John Williams. On social media, many musicians are expressing the opinion that the Giacchino theme, this 1-7-1, is overused. However, the music in the prologue in particular earned the film music composer the highest praise from the fans. But listen for yourself:

Themes by John Williams: a high benchmark

For the 1993 original and subsequent films, director Steven Spielberg commissioned his collaborator and composer, John Williams. He delivered plenty of iconic themes with the absolutely appropriate music. John Williams’ Jurassic Park score includes some of the most iconic themes ever written for a film. The real power of the themes comes from the symbiotic merging of the floating compositions with Spielberg’s images, an exciting aura of a really special kind. Everyone else had to be measured against the music of the first episodes. Some even claim it’s the best part of Jurassic Park. Below you will find some examples:

Straight to musical thrills without detours

The opener of John Williams’ Jurassic Park is undoubtedly legendary. Ominously droning opening bars of the film score immediately deliver the thrill of a monster film to audiences tuned in for an intense experience. The minimalist introductory title sets the scene perfectly.

The trip to the island

A typical stroke of genius from John Willams comes as the track played during the helicopter flight to the island and the scene immediately following. The theme rises and takes the listener by the terrified, shaking hand. In the expected Williams manner, it leads excitingly to the iconic main theme: iconic, majestic and at the same time awe-inspiring.

I thought the ‘musical’ score from JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION was sensational…absolutely ‘breathtaking’. If WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART or LUDWIG VON BEETHOVEN were ‘alive today’, neither composer could have done ‘any better’…the ‘score’ was that accomplished…that good in my opinion…!!!

Will there be ‘more installments or sequels’ in the “JURASSIC PARK-🌎 WORLD” franchise…? The answer is ‘a resounding 👍 YES’…! You might as well ask ‘will there be another “JAMES BOND/007” 🎥 film’…or is ‘THE POPE Catholic’…?

At some ‘point in time’ the dinosaurs will be presented in ‘state of the art’ 3D-stereoscopy…! The ‘screams’ from the audiences…I can hardly wait…!!!

Thanks for your comment, William! Cheers, //Joe
