The best thing in the price class!

29.12.2015
I was looking for a "device" with which I can mix our small, 4-headed band.

Since I have no idea of ??sound engineering etc., the whole thing should also be child-friendly and idiotensicher to adjust and to use.

Oh, well, it should be.

Each of the times has connected to a USB mixer 2 acoustic guitar, 1 electric guitar, 2 mics and a piano and has then also switched effects that knows what latency means.

I encountered a nearly latency-free connection, namely Thunderbolt.

Small note in advance .... I have until now no latencies can establish and we are just squeamish, which affects effects etc..

In my search for an interface / mixer that has a Thunderbolt connector, I had to realize that the luxury of this stable and fast system is not cheap.

These scarcely 700 ?, which I paid for the Zoom Tac 8, are in my opinion almost given, considering what one gets for it.

I spare you with technical Bla Bla, but try to make doubts and worried through experiences or to confirm.

Since I had 1 year ago the Zoom Tac 2 possessed, I had no doubt that the Zoom Tac 8 can be a flop.

I need only more inputs and the 8 XLR / Klinkene inputs are sufficient for me.

HI Z and phantom power are for me somehow standard, but perhaps I have also been spoiled by the Zoom Tac 2 already too much.

The mixer software, when one is dealing with it, is perfectly adequate for the mixing of the signals. Very clear and idiotensicher to use.
Nevertheless, I use MainStage 3, since you can store more presets or have more effects available.

Harmonises, by the way, perfectly with MainStage and GarageBand for all who should be interested.

There is also the nice function of having the gain set automatically to the input signal.

No clipping or too weak signals anymore. Just click on the button, which cares AUTO, lets the musicians sing / play for approx. 5 seconds and as soon as the controller does not go down, it's done.

So all in all, anyone who takes 5 minutes of time can optimally adjust all signals and route to the desired outputs, of which there are also more than enough.

It can also be used wonderfully as a table utensil. Since not everyone has a rack of 19, it was thought to be Zoom Zoom, that one simply attaches rubber surfaces under the zoom, so that it stands non-slip on the table.
If yes, musicians give their XLR / Klinkenkabel with one hand into the input press.

With the whole praise there was nevertheless a thing, which I found something stupid .... it is namely no Thunderbolt cable included.
So again, just under 40? (I had one of the Zoom Tac 2).

Optics is indeed taste, but haptics not.
But also there is nothing to complain about. I have to say, however, that I rarely adjust the gain of the channels analog, but actually always digital.
But also this is child-friendly, especially since a few nice LED's under other clipping before clipping.

I could probably still write some recording, but more than that the quality and latency leave no wishes open, one does not say.

All in all, I would recommend the Zoom TAC 8 to anyone looking for a reliable companion for live performances or recording.
The latter, of course, makes sense only if you have a Thunderbolt on the PC / notebook, but there is also the TAC 8 as a USB version for all the Windows users out there.

good material

Ericroyer38, 21.11.2017
good material, solid construction, easy use.
small weakness of the microphone preamp a little noisy for my taste at high gain.
integrates perfectly into multitrack studio environment with Cubase or Adobe Audition.
a great pity that the manufacturer has made 'impasse a second port Thunderbolt that would have cascaded peripherals.
