Improved H2 with small weaknesses

Tim678, 19.09.2011
First of all, you have to emphasize, of course, that for this price a more than adequate product is delivered. Very useful, for fieldrecording and beginners in this direction highly recommended.
However, I would like to briefly point out what I believe are pros and contra factors and what distinguishes the H2n from its predecessor:

+ Surround recordings with 4 channels, different stereobooks, with MS stereophony in RAW mode, subsequent influence on the stereo image possible
+ Very comfortable operation, intuitive, finally enough and meaningfully placed buttons
+ Fast "start up"
+ Very good menu
+ Recording gain infinitely adjustable
+ Very well readable display with useful information
+ Hold button
+ Loudspeaker for rough review of the recordings
+ Line-in for external micro via mini-link
+ Long running time with two AA batteries
+ Usable as USB micro on the PC
+ Other useful features
+ Wavelab LE7 as audio processing software, suitable for mastering

- no accessories except SD card and batteries included (with H2 was more)
- although beautiful design, but nevertheless cheaply produced
- Plastic components sensitive and easily broken
- clear noise of the microphones

The weaknesses of the predecessor model were largely eradicated, it is much easier to use and offers many features that H2 does not have to offer. The processing unfortunately did not turn out to be too robust (similar to the H2), but then the relatively low price makes itself felt; Accessories such as a remote control, stand or windscreen must be bought separately.
Nevertheless, from me a clear purchase recommendation, great value for money.

Versatile all-rounder

Lukas036, 01.10.2012
I had already read some reviews and the like in the run-up and then decided to buy because of the predominantly positive opinion on this device. At first I was skeptical as to whether such a small thing can actually make as good recordings as it claims, but after the first attempts it convinced me.

I use it to take me to the organs in the church, actually only for the audition, but the recordings sound thanks to the extensive setting possibilities so well that I can use them quite differently. Thanks to the surrounds, the H2n also makes the room sound in the church very good. Even the very deep sounds are still audible, and the high rattling and shrieking also not, altogether very balanced.
And my fears that the organ might be too loud for the unit, has also turned out to be void.
I was equally impressed by the realistic sound of the recordings I made in nature. On a tripod to the North Sea coast one has the impression one would really be there, when one hears the recordings. The splitting of the waves can be heard singly and does not blur into a single major general noise.
And the seagull that calls from right to left can be clearly places. Very precise.
Also recordings from my guitar sound very clear and balanced.

The service is, if you have something familiar with it, quite simple. The available processing possibilities I use hardly, since I the recordings afterwards work on the PC.

The processing is fine, the plastic does not work very well, but if you do not drop it, it will probably hold. And you get used to the "Schlabberige" record button.

All in all, a good entry-level recording device. At the price it offers a whole lot of features and an impressive sound.

If you want to take in the highest resolution offer it to buy a larger memory card. The included 2gb card reaches 96kHz and 24 bit slightly less than an hour.
Also very recommendable is the accessories package APH-2n.

The multitracker is a great tool for musicians of all levels. It really can be a ‘studio in a box’ replacing many of the components of a traditional studio.
