Sound and player life on a high level

26.04.2016
We got the NU1 three years ago, because after more than two decades, my wife had the need again to build on the pianoforte playing from her youth. It should be an affordable instrument with a 'silent' option. In addition, our two children were also important to us to have the true feel of an acoustic piano, in order to obtain a real tactile feedback from the instrument. Moreover, the piano should not sound like electronics, which did not please us with acoustic silent instruments in use with headphones, as well as with pure digital pianos. The price of well-sounding genuine pianos was then only an argument for the hybrid piano.
We were amazed at how the piano sounded at home for the first time: the CFX samples deliver a full yet brilliant sound. The approach is very sensitive and well controllable. If you play a few minutes, you will forget that it is not an acoustic piano. Only the location of the sound is localized to this rather downside, whereas otherwise a piano sounds more up and can be amplified by opening the lid. But this is easily painful and you get used to it quickly. The other sounds we use rather rare, but both the second piano and the harpsichord sound surprisingly real. The general operation is otherwise well done and with the enclosed reference also easy to use.
Meanwhile, me and our daughter animated the presence of learning to play the piano. Often we also use it to accompany our son, who had already been attracted to the brass. But then the possibility to transpose is really helpful.
The piano has fully convinced us and is often performed, which is probably the greatest praise for an instrument!
For the rest, there was a unique production defect in our first piano, which made it sound very audible in the case of strong attacks. After the error was found, Thomann offered us a new instrument, which has now been played without problems for over two and a half years.

Price / performance ratio = perfect

Markus367, 05.08.2014
I played the NU-1 at Thomann in the gallery and knew after fractions of the first second that it was what I had been waiting for a long time.
My last purchase was the P-120 from Yamaha and that is about 10 years ago. Both devices are not comparable, since they belong to different categories. They have one thing in common: The price / performance ratio is, in my opinion, unbeatable in both.
The NU-1 plays perfectly with the full-mechanical keyboard and trained hammer mechanics. The sound is just as perfect. Yamaha has done a lot of work on the acoustic concept. I think that a "normal" piano would cost this game and sound class far more than 10,000 EUR.
The processing is noble and the connections suitable for every kind of use (headphone, line, MIDI, USB recording).
There is a small point of criticism and this concerns the 5 sounds you can choose: the "Grand Piano" is top, better does not work. The other 4 sounds could have omitted Yamaha, although the spinet still has its right. Still, I am talking about a 100% purchase recommendation for this hybrid piano!
