Terrific for the price paid

TerryM, 22.08.2013
I bought this having fallen in love with the music of Rodrigo Y Gabriela
I am very pleased with the build quality and the superb tone and playability of the instrument right out of the case. I love the tone whether amped or not. I am not disappointed with the purchase great value for money especially for the price. Lovely instrument. Excellent service from Thomann as usual. I have been a customer of Thomann since 2006. Never disappointed.

Done its three tuning forks.

Dominique402, 11.08.2012
Let's start with the case that is the first thing you see when you open the package. It is of semi-rigid type, more rigid than semi elsewhere. The outer fabric is sober and not so messy. A large pocket with zipper on the front will store accessories. Two removable straps allowing the port "backpack" way are delivered. The only point that could be improved concerns the handles of transport which make a little poor compared to the rest.
The inside is sumptuous. The velvet in a champagne tone is pleasing to the eye and especially, the padding is royal and its shape perfectly matches the contours of the instrument ensuring a flawless retention of it. There is also the traditional small compartment that can accommodate some trinkets.
The case is one thing, the content is another.

After inspecting all the seams of the instrument first observation: there is not the least defect of finishing. The woods are beautiful, and also without flaw. You will say that this is a minimum for this type of instrument, to which I would answer yes, but that alas, it happens to see more expensive instruments that are not always irreproachable on this chapter.
The spruce of the table has regular and straight fibers, neither too tight nor too spaced. The rosewood of the bottom and the sides and the mahogany of the neck do not denote. The ebony fingerboard is beautiful. Varnish gloss very thin on the table, a thicker hair on the rest of the box. A satin finish and very nice on the handle.
The inside of the case confirms a very neat production, the elements are well adjusted and no trace of glue is visible.
The marquetry of the entourage of rosette is in good taste (according to me).
The only drawbacks are the plastic head and bridge saddles, we would not have said no to the bone.
Made in China certainly, but with specifications and quality control that would do the greatest good to certain products "made elsewhere".

The grip does not detract the guitarist accustomed to the guitars folk or electric.
The width of the handle of 48mm at the nut and the spacing of the 52.5 mm strings on the easel seem to me to be an ideal compromise, leaving enough room for picking and some acrobatic tuning positions and allowing the thumb to Pass over the handle to pinch the low mid if necessary.
The profile of the handle is in "D", but with edges sufficiently curved to be forgotten. The same handle is straight as an "I" and has an adjustable "truss rod". The frets are fine and of an exemplary finish.
The radius key of 14 inches makes the barres comfortable.
The action is correct and participates in the comfort of play.
The case is very nice to my taste, with a reduced depth compared to a classic hard and pure, a cut and 14 cases non-cash that allow easy access to treble.

The unamplified sound is good (rather round and warm), the dynamics is good. The balance of the registers is correct and no problem of accuracy to the octave. Record keeping is very honorable.
But, there is a "but", if we compare the sonority to that of a classical guitar with "standard" measurements, that of the NTX lacks amplitude and projection. We could expect it in the cashier's eye.
The instrument only reveals its full potential once amplified. And this is Byzantium!
The system of microphones under the soundboard, actually gives a less "pinched" sound, more natural than a piezoelectric sensor directly under the easel nut, and reacts well to possible strikes on the table.
The preamp offers everything you need, classic 3-band equalizer (effective), tuner (practical), general volume (normal) and especially the possibility of separately adjusting the volume of the bass and treble strings (very well seen). What's more, this preamp is rather quiet, you really have to push the adjustments fully to hear a light breath. Many facilities to get the desired sound.

My conclusion: a beautiful instrument, very pleasant to play, whose purchase is fully justified only if it is mainly used in electroacoustics. Otherwise, other models may represent a more appropriate choice. Offer it an amp and there is a good chance that you do not regret your purchase.
