Yamaha EMX2 Powermixer
Andreas Winkler, 13.08.2017
Hello everybody,
I have added this powermixer, because I can not carry my heavy PA technology for health reasons. I use the Powermixer together with two small Fullrangeboxen and a Yamaha subwoofer as a PA system. So far, I have used technique from Yamaha, like a mixer MG102c and a power amplifier P3500S together with 2 x S115V boxes and 2 x SW118IV basses. So I have a good way to estimate this "Powerzwerg". It's all on board, what I need. I was surprised to see the bottom line. Not only the accustomed glaskar sound, but also amazing performance. The prerequisite is, of course, a clean and powerful input level. Laptop, is ideal, Tablet PC and mobile phone are completely sufficient. A gain control would be useful here, but you can adjust everything according to the weakest signal, in which one with the sums controller settles, goes also. I have times the S115V connected. The steam is not enough for the big power amp, but the whole thing is already a good thing. Every button on the device has an authorization and works perfectly. The air is of course audible, so not suitable for the studio, but somewhere the warm air has to go. My concerns, because of the missing compressors at the micro-inputs are skipped. Here, the effects do their job outstanding, so the compressors appear superfluous. What is missing however is the impact sound or low cut. for the mics. I use among other things a micro, Opus 39S from Bayerdynamic, which now without this circuit significantly polts. This is the point deduction for the features.
Really great is the good old mono-
Signal which can be selected for the 3 stereo inputs at the push of a button. where stereo is over-rated, the full signal on each side brings back the right pressure and volume. The 3 band EQ's per channel do not have much to do, since the linear signal when using proper boxes has everything that is good for the ear. Together with an active subwoofer, connected to the intended output, you also get a corresponding bass foundation for a rich and fat sound.
In conclusion, one question remains open. Why have I dragged myself so many years with some 40 kg racks? If the Powermixer holds long, there is nothing to complain about. From me there is an unrestricted purchase recommendation, for this device and for the team of Thomann anyway, because there is always very good advice, help with problem and reliable information.

A problem
MarcusB, 25.09.2016
I use the Powermixer with two Glockenklang Acoustic 8-1 speakers as a small PA (fits in the trunk of a small car). The sound is super, and the Powermixer is very powerful. I like that he has both chinch and mini-link stereo inputs. So you can quickly connect a laptop or a smartphone.

The sound rocker over the individual rotary controls works well. At the end of the scale there is an extra bass boost (indicated by an LED).

The master has a small step in the lowest level. This is apparently normal (was the same with another device).

Small flaws: There is no pan control (left-right) for the monocanals, and the loudspeaker outputs are designed as a pawl instead of SpeakOn. I had to buy new speaker cables.

There is a small fan that would interfere with use in the living room. A replacement of the fan seems possible, the disassembly is not for the weak nerves. The Powermixer is packed with electronics.

If all the functions and connections you need are there, you can strike without hesitation.
