Very solid and well built headphone amp. Used with HD-800 headphones it helps tame these headphones which are known to be slightly bright. Amp has power to spare but delivers it with such control, music has great punch but also lots of detail. Does not sound like a solid state amp, has a slight warm sound but not dull, very well balanced. Paired with the V800 DAC they make a great pair, revealing and very musical. Highly recommended. Note it is possible to set the overall gain using DIP switched on the back of the amp, this means that maximum use of the volume pot can be achieved.

The headphone amplifier is used together with the headphone Sennheiser HD 800 and a Linn Majik DS network player at the RCA input of the Violectric HPA V200. As a comparison, a Stax SRS-4040II (Signature System) is used at the same sound source.
Since then, I have always experienced the sound impression of electrostats as very natural and fatigue-free. The Sennheiser HD 800 and the Violectric HPA V200 are not in any way beneficial to the electrostate. This means that both Sennheiser and the Sennheiser Orpheus as well as Violectric did an excellent job. The sound combination in the combination of the mentioned sound chain is therefore outstanding! This makes listening to music very enjoyable and is also after hours without fatigue. This point is very important to me and speaks for this headphone amplifier.
I have looked at the Violectric amplifier on the product pictures before the purchase very exactly on the homepage of the manufacturer and I have said the clean interior and the exterior effect. The outer appearance when I held the device after purchase in the hand confirmed this. The workmanship is very good. All control panels are logically structured, clearly visible and handy to adjust. A separate setting, which can be made by the basic setting with separate switches on the back of the device or internal switches in the device, was not necessary with me. For these subtleties as well as the normal operation, the device has a logical and with me no additional questions to come up with.
For the features I also give five stars. For example, the USB input / output can be retrofitted separately to an optional USB module with 24 Bit / 96 kHz. For me, this use is currently not relevant and was therefore not tested by me. Other features include pre-gain as a switchable preamplifier as well as a separation by relays of the headphone outputs. For all features I refer to the manual. Likewise, I feel the alternative possibility synonymous XLR as an alternative to the Cinch to use as very practical.
I am pleased to have found the ideal headphone amplifier for the Sennheiser HD 800 and can therefore evaluate the device with full conviction with full five stars!
(Extended experience report after intensive further use.) The Violectric HPA V200 can synonymous sound and musically high-quality sources over XLR implement and convinced me there too. The direct sound comparison to an EternalArts OTL headphone amplifier (KHV) in combination with the Sennheiser HD800, even if the naked device comparison is certainly not directly comparable from price and conceptual point of view, in favor of the EternalArts OTL headphone amplifier (KHV).
