Nearly perfect

Markus8559, 21.06.2015
Since lately I was traveling by plane again, I had to make a guitar, which I could take with me in my suitcase. So far, I've always had Epiphon Semi-acoustics on road trips.
I looked at 5 different models and played. As it happens, each has its strengths and weaknesses, which for me is perfect egg-laying Wollmilchsau there is not. The Escape came in the sum of my ideas ultimately but then the next.
Any folding or disassembling solutions eliminated pretty quickly for me, because I want to be able to pick up the guitar quickly without having to tinker (if not much). Stayed in the shortlist so the Escape, the Ultra Light NAT Steel and the EG-1 Custom, all three of Traveler Guitars.

Now for my assessment of the Escape:
Very good I think the workmanship and the really compact dimensions with original scale and nut width. I also find the tuning stability impressive. I packed the guitar in Germany in the suitcase, flew to Greece on holiday the next day, unpacked it in the hotel in the evening and I did not have to change my mind. Incredible!

I also like the sound via the integrated headphone amplifier or completely unamplified (the ideal solution for evening sessions on the hotel terrace), as well as the amp (Fender Deluxe Reverb). For the design really amazing. Although the EG-1 is still a class better, which is no wonder considering the mahogany body and Humbucker pickup. But you can forget about the EG-1 via headphones. Since the escape is worlds better.

Not quite as great is the playability without belt. Since it is very top-heavy, you can practically practice only with strap more difficult things. Loosely lolling on the sofa and scrubbing down any perfectly controlled songs is of course no problem.
Also not optimal is the placement of the jack for connecting headphones or amp. Somehow come with me again and again times plug and thigh in the way. Depending on how you are sitting and holding the guitar.

Really bad, I think only two things, one of which is very easy to fix: The attachment of the belt on the head is a cable tie, which is so clumsy and sharp-edged that one cuts open the index finger when playing the first fret. A quick cut and the part along with its problem is gone. I do not need the belt anyway. And if you do, you only need to mount the cable tie the other way round and the problem is already defused.
The second problem is certainly individual and depends on the body, but for me the only real criticism. The volume control for the integrated amplifier is on the top of the body, so far on the edge of the body and so smooth, so that it is sometimes inadvertently adjusted when cramping on complicated handles on the guitar. I console myself with the fact that it encourages the motivation to play more relaxed ;-)

But as I said, the Escape for me is the best compromise with the best price / performance ratio for me and my claims.

What can others do better / worse?
As I said, the sound of the EG-1 on the amp or unreinforced better, but not on the headphones. Also it is not so top-heavy and therefore more comfortable to play. But it is much more expensive, heavier (critical in the plane!) And for me decisive 2cm longer, so that I would get her in my suitcase only without a gig bag.
The NAT Steel is eliminated because it is cheaper, but does not sound so good, no built-in headphone amplifier but is as top-heavy as the Escape.

In any case, I have not regretted my decision to date, and I am pleased to now have an "always-on-the-guitar" that is really fun and because of the original scale allows a reasonable and meaningful practice.

Guitar ft e.

Jean-MichelA, 19.02.2018
Most :
-Aesthetic, finish.
-cut.
-housse plus cooler pouch that protects it well.
-read in hand rather nice, once one is at the top truncated (I play sitting)
- very nice handle to play.
-His, trendy, delicate and precise once the settings of tones well adjusted (avoid pushing), we take pleasure (I use a Amplug Vox), unplugged, it's like a disconnected electric guitar, overall, not of surprise!

Negative
-the volume and tones are placed at the top, and sometimes my stomach moves the volume slider, and I find myself without sound. Not too serious, we adapt!
-The jack can be capricious when I move my Amplug.
-If you push the tone settings, the bass becomes dull, and the high pitched. I leave them in the middle.
Finally, I have not changed my strings, and I have not tested a trip by plane (is it really accepted in the cabin everywhere?), So no opinion on these particular points.
In the end, the recommendation warmly.
