Elite beast with no remorse

S.Elsevar, 15.06.2017
Someones likes someones not. But probably most interesting pedal I've got for using developing my own sound with I will use in studio/gig situation.
First of all without good settings for eq, drive and mix, you can easily go wrong. It needs to be tuned individually.
It does fuzzy tone and it does distortion. Distortion mode with my EMG pickups does monsterius roar as wild beast.
I don't get that is fuzz on this, very lifeless and dull sound, maybe lit bit not musically. It has really briliant octaver mod with can be mixed with dist. sound in various settings.
Overall only disappointed by clean sound, pedal keep cutting and shaping sound instead of default setting of eq, keep killing the tone of bass, also with compression behind pedal distortion clean signal, make a lot of annoying noise in low end.
Handling is not easy. I read bunch of instruction from internet for calibrate hot hand, set usable presents and etc. I didn't find some quick demo settings in manual.
Also pedal is pretty heavy, made from a hard plastic. I like the space between the knobs and pachtes, but changing patch bank from A to B bit pain in gig situation. For example if you store Octave in A, Foldback in B, so there is no quick way skip to another bank instead little tiny black knob in left side. It make me bit a mad in daily usage.
1. Futuristic sound, especially with hot hand on bass distortion.
2. Multieffect prossesing, tons of variations of dirty sound.
3. Whobbles that no other pedals does.
1. Hard to handle without manual, make setup.
2. Sterile sound instead of that analog pedals.

I will recommending it for musicians that keep searching for something new and have enough patience for make set it up. Plug'n'play guys better choose something else.

Very special pedal with frustration and spa potential

Flughorn, 22.06.2013
First: the videos which are offered in the Internet by SourceAudio show quite exactly what you get. If you can not re-play, you can also assume similar sounding, as demonstrated there.

I bought the pedal because I wanted besides a Zerre still other sounds in order not to need as many single effects. Both of these conditions are met by the pedal.

Processing etc .:
I am disappointed. Apart from the base plate and various small parts, plastic is predominant. I had scratches on the surface after the first attempts. Apart from that, it is quite solid.

Production errors I have not noticed and all controls and buttons work flawlessly. The power supply is supplied and is usable.

A brief look into the tutorial and the last non-intuitive 2-3 things are explained. Likewise, there are small tips to the individual settings - very helpful.
Roughly explained: center wheel is the mode. EQ mixes selected 7 band equalizer settings into the signal. Drive regulates cutting intensity. And 2 controls allow you to control the output volume, with the possibility to mix the fundamental sound and the crisp sound.

Now to the stage all day. Who plays with shoes and rarely has hands free or does not bend often can get problems. As mentioned it is all plastic and a rough kick to the regulator I would not recommend. In addition, the tiny knob for switching the effect bank - no idea why this important button has to be able to be operated only with a high level of craftsmanship with shoe foot. The 3 foot buttons are for solid with a well noticeable detent and the distance is just enough for normal feet.

At the beginning you fumble at the pedal with your fingers and 6 presets are enough to store the most usable sounds of the pedal. Ie it is not necessarily necessary during the game. In addition the possibility of influencing by hot hand or expression pedal.
Unfortunately, this restriction also affects not individual parameters but morphects the effect of bank 1 with bank 2. This can provide particularly cool results, but restricts the arrangement of the presets. If, for example, you want to use the Exp pedal of Clean to distort distorted signal you have to use 2 presets or operate the drive controller by hand.

Target group are probably progressive bassists, soloists or joy of handmade electronic music. I use it for post rock.
The normal tugs are tasteless and color the sound, especially in high-gain settings. The sound is more like fuzz, which makes me quite happy.
With Foldback are synonymous to SynthieBass similar sounds and crazy. The weakest I find the octaversettings, which gives partial mud and tangle partly with strongly alternating output levels in these settings. As a substitute for a full-value Okaver, the part is therefore not to be used.,

For all settings, the best feature for me is the miscible cleansing signal.
Sounds banal but makes up for some. If depths are lacking or you are looking for distorted but powerful sounds, you can guarantee the necessary locability in the band structure.

What annoys me the most is the eternal fiddling around the effect parameters (eg output levels) to adjust. It is a patience because you have no way to see which preset is stored in the controller. You always start from the value the controller has just. That is, if you want to adjust a channel, the controls are still on the setting of what you have done before.

This is followed by a blind flight after hearing with much to and fro so that one the adjustment hinbekommt. If you want to compare the result with a different preset, you have to save it - you only notice that it has already sounded better before this setting is already overwritten.

-> Not suitable for adapting all presets to new equipment. Desirable would be illuminated markings, motorized potentiometers or simply endless controllers, which process the stored value unaffected by the regulator stand. Whether the whole with MIDI control (better) works, I do not know unfortunately.

I wondered if I would send it back, but if you put it all in a reasonable way it really is a lot of fun. The sounds have character and are suitable for me, which is decisive for me. Try a lot and bring time and patience!
