Ingenious all-rounder

tombourra, 08.04.2018
For this price you hardly get a better Mirko.
Used it for studio recordings for vocals as well as rap, and everyone Sontronics heard so far was amazed at the clean and balanced recording quality. Almost realistically, with some boost in the lower and mid-range, but disappears with a little EQing in post-production.
Even when recording percussion like cajon or single drums, the micro achieves very good results!
The workmanship is so good, that one hardly believes a Mirko for only 200 ¬ in the hand to keep. Very solid and good weight, the spider is solid and looks very good in the overall package!
Of course you can not compare this Mike with Neumann or Nem Brauner in any way, but in the price segment up to 600¤ it is at the forefront.

Those who only have a small budget available, but would still like to get good shots is well served with the STC-2!

Wonderful Micro :)

Nico aus N., 20.09.2011
I would say quite flatly:
The Sontronics STC-2 is the best large membrane condensation microphone under 500EUR. Have scarcely 30 microphones of this kind to 1000EUR in direct comparison appestentet and this micro landed for me behind a Brauner (999EUR) and a SE model (995EUR) on place 3 (however with not even 200EUR ..!)

Of course you hear a relatively big difference from the wonderful Brauner Phantom Classic to the Sontronics, but this difference is in the price much more powerful!

I would not say that this microphone sounds very neutral (for me: boring), has a special character. Of course, this sound color does not appeal to everyone, but to me.
More generally, this microphone has a good bass (the distance from the micro unfortunately decreases too much in comparison to the Brauner) and also beautiful brilliant heights, which do not sound exaggerated (certainly not with pop protection).

I can not complain at the spider, the attachments and the fancy workings.
Only the case makes a less well-processed impression, although it fulfills its purpose.

I use this micro for vocal recording and in combination with a Shure SM58 also for acoustic guitar.
However, I've really just fallen in love with this micro, when I had connected it to my monitor box in the room and nen bissel rumgesungen: What for nen geiler sound;

Overall, this microphone is very good for recording with limited budget.
